book in the name of allah the most gracious the most merciful the book of etiquettes of eating praise be to allah who has perfectly arranged the affairs of creation providing sustenance and livelihoods through the earth and heavens by means of food he preserves the strength of living creatures aiding them in acts of obedience and righteous deeds prayers and peace be upon Muhammad his family and companions the aim of the wise is to meet Allah in the abode of reward attainable through knowledge and action which require bodily well-being This well-being is achieved through food and nourishment, consumed as needed.

Some righteous predecessors said, eating is part of the religion, as Allah indicated when He said, eat of the good things and work righteousness.

Thus, eating should support knowledge and action, reflecting the lights of the religion.

Ibn al-Mubarak used to offer fine dates to his brothers, saying, Whoever eats more, I will give for each pit a dirham.

He would count the pits and give dirhams to each one with an excess number of pits, thus reducing shyness and increasing enthusiasm and openness.

Jafar ibn Muhammad, may Allah be pleased with them, said, My most loved brothers are those who eat the most and take the biggest bite, and those who do not burden me with taking care of them in eating.

All this indicates adhering to custom and avoiding pretentiousness.

Allahumma salli 'ala Hasan wa Husayn wa alihi wa sallam.

Wa 'ala aimmatil muslimin Ali ibn al-Husayn wa Muhammad ibn Ali wa Ja'far ibn Muhammad wa Musa ibn Ja'far wa Ali ibn Musa wa Muhammad ibn Ali wa Ali ibn Muhammad wa al-Hasan ibn Ali 'alayhimus salatu was salam.

Allahumma salli 'ala Aimmatil Muslimin wa alihi wa sallam.

Allahumma salli 'ala mawlana al-Hujjat ibn Hasan sahibul 'asri wa z-zaman.

In coming episodes, we shall be looking at these developments in some detail.

And of course, up till now, we're only talking about what would eventually become the Shi'i mainstream, if we can talk about that.

Allahumma salli ala aimmat al-Muslimeen Ali ibn al-Husayn wa Muhammad ibn Ali wa Ja'far ibn Muhammad wa Musa ibn Ja'far wa Ali ibn Musa wa Muhammad ibn Ali wa Ali ibn Muhammad wa al-Hassan ibn Ali alaihim salatu was salam.

Allah.

Allahumma salli ala mawlana al-Hujjat ibn al-Hassan sahib al-asr wa zaman.

However, if that's the case, why did...

Why did Ja'far al-Sadiq say that Mut'az permissible? Excuse me.

Excuse me.

Why did he say? Because they attribute to him that he said it's haram.

So we are highly influenced by him.

And across the river, there is Imam Musa al-Kadhim, or Ja'far al-Sadiq.

And not far from them, Sheikh Abdul Qadir al-Jailani, and Bashir al-Hafi, and all of these great, great, great Muslim leaders.

So growing up in that area, in that environment, you're greatly influenced by these people, by these great people.

Each one of them is an inspiration.

And until today, alhamdulillah, in many occasions, I tell the story of Imam Abu Hanifa because he was one of, and Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq, radiallahu anhum, ajma'een, as my teachers and people of, Great inspiration.

Why were they such an inspiration for you? How did you find that? Like many of our brothers and sisters out there today do not find these men, these great pillars of greatness as inspiration.

How were they inspiration to

That is one thing.

अब जैसे मैं आपको [हँसने की आवाज़], which is I also kind of gave this, uh, example in some, uh, interview about this great Imam, Imam Jafar as-Sadiq, who's the great, great, great grandson of Prophet Muhammad.

तो Imam Jafar as-Sadiq के पास a person comes one day and he says, "If there are five scholars, whom should I follow?" He says, "Follow the one who's most knowledgeable." He says, "All five of them are equally knowledgeable." And he says, "Follow the one who's most pious." He says, "All five of them are equally pious." Then he said, "Follow the one who's universally most renowned." He says, "All of them are universally acclaimed." Then he said, "Follow the one who dissents."

Hmm.

Because the one who dissent is the one who has moral courage.

And he continues the message and the legacy of his grandfather Rasulullah salallahu alayhi wa alihi wa salam.

The parents of Al-Imam Jafar As-Sadiq.

As for his mother, the mother of Al-Imam As-Sadiq was a woman, a noble, righteous woman known as Umm Farwa, the wife of the fifth Imam.

Her name was Fatima, daughter of Al-Qasim.

Al-Qasim was one of the disciples, so Al-Imam Al-Sadiq's father-in-law.

And his mother was known as one of the most noble.

And righteous woman of her time.

This is the mother of Al-Imam As-Sadiq.

Allahumma salli wa sallim ala al-Hassan al-Mujtaba wa al-Husayn al-Shahid bi Karbala.

Allahumma salli ala aimmat al-Muslimeen Ali ibn Husayn wa Muhammad ibn Ali wa Ja'far ibn Muhammad wa Musa ibn Ja'far wa Ali ibn Musa wa Muhammad ibn Ali wa Ali ibn Muhammad wa al-Hassan ibn Ali alayhim salatu wa salam.

Allahumma salli wa sallim ala aimmat al-Muslimeen.

Allahumma salli ala mawlana al-Hujjat ibn al-Hassan sahib al-asr wa al-zaman.
