J-Zone

He's afforded me the ability because I can sit around and fiddle for shit for hours and get what I want, but I'm not going to pick up a bass and play and rock a bass or a guitar or whatever.

I bring in people that have that ability, I have a song on the New Dell album that Jay's on, Jay Mumford is on, who's playing drums, because I wanted live drums on that.

And so I bring, after I have the foundational beat from when I'm just at home on my computer and rocking some shit that's sample based, then I'll bring it in.

And then a lot of times I will either fill it in with stuff sometimes i'll remove the sample depending on if i feel like the live extra instrumentation gives it its justice because there's a certain feel that i want so i'll never go straight like let's just replay this because that's not this the the sound and vibe that i'm looking for and so any instrumentation that i bring into it it has to kind of still have that that feel and that vibe of what I'm getting at, that kind of grittiness, and it ain't gonna sound like an 80s R&B record, you know
