Hey everyone, I'm Izzy Escobar and this is my most requested live Ask Me Anything chat.

My new song HWD1 is out now and thank you so much to Romeo and iHeartRadio for having me on the show tonight.

I had so many favorite artists growing up but that's because my dad was actually a DJ when I was a kid and so we had everything playing in the house from you know 60s, 70s, 80s top hits and I was also a classical violinist as a kid and so I would play violin and we always had classical music in the house.

I would love to collaborate with many people, but I think at the moment I'm going through a Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, T Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and then John Mayer and Ed Sheeran face.

Hate To Be The One came together with my dear friend Diane Warren, which is still very crazy to call her a friend now, because I grew up really looking up to her.

And it was for the TV show Hacks.

[laughs]

... 'cause I was y- obviously upset that he was like, "We'll get you on the stage." And they switch out the band bef- like, for every song, 'cause it's all improv.
3:09
And so I did Cry Me a River, and the members of the band actually became some of my really good friends after that.
3:16
Uh, one of which played with me in my show, uh, in London, and we, he played the BBC with me.
3:22
Like, so much good stuff happened on the London trip that reminded me who I was.
3:28
And, and, and whether it's, that's just me being ballsy and reaching out to someone, "Hey, can I sing?" I reached out, like, to the BBC.
3:34
Everyone's like, "You can't play the BBC of One Song Out." And I messaged someone, and she was like, "I don't go through my DMs, but for some reason today I did, and I want you to come on the BBC." [upbeat rock music]

Yeah.
40:52
So, so is there, is there a reason why you're going this route? Does it make more sense to you? It does make sense for a lot of artists now.
41:00
I care so much about surrounding myself with amazing, loving, good-hearted people.
41:06
That's my number one.
41:08
It's the people and the love for music.
41:11
The reason I do what I do is genuinely because I love music and I love expressing my emotions through music and connecting with other humans.
41:21
And so...
41:23
That was really important to me and so was this idea of I'm about to step into the scene with no branding, no, you know, like who am I? And I wanted people to take time to understand and cultivate that world with me.

Surprise.
