Chris TitusHOST
7:53
So Ghosty's a fantastic terminal as well.
Chris TitusHOST
7:56
More older Mac users, I see them use iTerm2.
Chris TitusHOST
8:00
which I tried that again, and I was just like, it just didn't, it was better, obviously, way better than the default Mac terminal, don't get me wrong, but Ghosty I thought was the best out of all of them, but sometimes I just want like a minimal terminal with just no flair, and Alacrity just is the perfect one for me in that regard, so I kind of switch back and forth between Ghosty and Alacrity depending on what I'm doing.
Chris TitusHOST
8:23
But for today, let's show you these default things.
James McAulayGUEST
14:55
Let's get into Claude.
Aakash GuptaHOST
14:56
And you're in iTerm2.
Aakash GuptaHOST
14:58
Why iTerm2?
James McAulayGUEST
14:59
I just quite like some of the themes in iTerm.
James McAulayGUEST
15:03
It feels like quite a fast and snappy terminal, but I mean, it's basically the same.
Reuven LernerGUEST
21:24
Like, I've been using a lot of Moremo lately, and one of the things I totally miss is the, like, exclamation point allowing me to execute commands in the back end, 'cause I just got so used to doing that from Jupyter.
Reuven LernerGUEST
21:35
For terminal stuff, I was using, uh, iTerm2 for many, many years.
Reuven LernerGUEST
21:39
And at some point, I realized I'm not using, like, ninety percent of its functionality, including all the Tmux stuff, which I just, I never figured it out.
Reuven LernerGUEST
21:46
I never figured out how to get it to work or how to work with it or why I would want it.
Reuven LernerGUEST
21:52
I would just open up new tabs, and I was okay with that.
Reuven LernerGUEST
21:55
And then I found out about Ghostty, which I think I've just pronounced an extra T in there, and I switched to that a few months ago.
Reuven LernerGUEST
22:01
I've been super, super happy with it just because I don't need all the extra iTerm2 stuff.
Reuven LernerGUEST
22:06
And I had some problems with, with the Cloud Code, actually.
Jim McQuillanHOST
28:17
And it's equally as nice.
Jim McQuillanHOST
28:20
And I, you know, I installed, I use iTerm2 as my terminal emulator.
Jim McQuillanHOST
28:24
I installed the nerd fonts.
Jim McQuillanHOST
28:27
I forget which one I use, but you got to install the nerd fonts to get all the symbols.
Nathan LabenzHOST
5:57
I can say that I have kind of experienced a similar thing.
Nathan LabenzHOST
6:01
I used to use up until just the last couple of weeks a program called iTerm2 Which is just a command line, you know, uh, now my personal entirely vibe coded agent console is not just at parity with what I used to have with the terminal, but is actually ahead.
Nathan LabenzHOST
6:20
It's at parity in the sense that I have all the same things, streaming tokens, you know, tool use, nice UI, but it's also ahead in the sense that I've added on all these different search things, auto-tagging, brought like multiple different harnesses to parity.
Nathan LabenzHOST
6:34
So now I don't really have to think twice, you know, am I using Claude here? Am I using Codex? It gives me one unified experience that sits on top of those two.
Nathan LabenzHOST
6:42
This would've been pretty hard to do earlier in the year, and now I'm just like getting such great results with anything that I ask for that I really don't open iTerm2 anymore.
Nathan LabenzHOST
6:57
Even platforms I think, um, are ultimately threatened.
Nathan LabenzHOST
7:01
Like there's not much that's more fundamental than Git to the software world, and if they can swap this out over the course of a month, you know, what can't be swapped out?
Yegor BugayenkoHOST
32:00
Так что IDE все, все исчезли.
Yegor BugayenkoHOST
32:02
И насчёт CLI у меня Term 2 или как он там называется, iTerm 2, я сейчас посмотрю, я забываю его название.
Yegor BugayenkoHOST
32:08
iTerm он называется.
Yegor BugayenkoHOST
32:09
Вот я iTerm пользуюсь и всё.
Brad ShoemakerHOST
22:55
Anyway, we don't need to get into that, but I'm moving to a new terminal on here.
Brad ShoemakerHOST
22:59
I used to use iTerm2 on my old MacBook, so like...
Brad ShoemakerHOST
23:03
Getting a new machine is kind of an occasion to audit your whole tool chain and decide what you want to maybe...
Brad ShoemakerHOST
23:10
Some people might say, if it's not broke, don't fix it.
