It Must Have Been Love

There's air of silence.

It must have been love But it's over now

It must have been good But I lost it somehow It must have been love But it's over now From the moment

we thought Till the time had run out Make believing We're together I'm sheltered by your heart But in and outside I turn to water Like a teardrop in your palm And it's a hot winter's day It was all that I wanted Now I'm living without It must have been love Thank you.

It's Roxette, It Must Have Been Love, 35 on the Capitol Countdown from this week in 1990, which was originally a Christmas song.

Per Gessel claimed that EMI Germany asked Roxette for an intelligent Christmas song, so they put a very similar sounding track out in Sweden called It Must Have Been Love, Christmas for the Broken Hearted, and then along came Pretty Woman.

So they reworked it, removed the Christmas-specific theme, and boom, Roxette's third American number one.

The Neville brothers are on the way with a Leonard Cohen cover, but first, and this one also went to number one in the US, it's Nelson at 34.

I am going with one of your favorite bands, Dave.

It must have been Love by Moxie.

This is a great pick.

And I'm mad at my draft strategy because nobody liked the Whitney Houston song.

I've told the story before, but you know that, so this was originally a Christmas song.

So the male, Pau Giesel, I forget how to say his name, but he wrote this because they were trying to get big in Europe, and they said if you write Christmas songs and give them to Germany, they'll go big.

So they wrote this, and originally it was called, it must have been Love Parenthetical's Christmas for the Broken Hearted.

And, uh, he, they released it in Germany.
