And it's when Gandalf is at the top of Isengard after getting his ass kicked by Saruman.

Yeah.

And it's like this beautiful song sings.

He set up a little import business, buying pipeweed from Lotho Sackville Baggins.

That's why Merry and Pippin found some in the storehouse at Isengard.

So Saruman's human lackeys were already used to going in and out of the Shire, and Lotho Sackville Baggins had even more money, which he used to buy not just Bag End from Frodo, but also the Old Mill.

Once Frodo and co were gone, he tightened his grip on the Shire, knocking down the Old Mill and replacing it with a more industrial version, closing the inns, imprisoning any opposition, claiming the title Chief and using human ruffians to enforce his rule.

That's cool.

Are there any other moments like that, that you would point out? Like, um, the rising of the river to stop the Nazgul into, uh, Rivendell comes to mind, um, or the flooding of Isengard similar.

Yes.

And it's, it's, it's not something that's as pointed, but even like at the battle of Helm's deep, when the Rohirrim are coming down upon the horde of orcs and the sun is described as shining at their back, um, that's very much um at least in my mind i've always viewed that as like a lubitar's blessing essentially

And so after that, we, we went, we heard reports that there was recruitment happening over in Bree.

And so we, as in Durhill and I traveled along to Bree and went to look for the prancing pony to get information from Barlam and Butterbur to look for Fred, who is someone who would know about these, um, secret meetings and recruitments we were unable to find fred but we did get a tail in the form of a southern southern ling southern ling raider and we captured him interrogated him he didn't give us any useful information so we let him go but secretly stealthed behind him to figure out where he was going which was to fred's house we finally reached fred and threat not really threatened but we get to thread and we have him captured and he gives up everything of the that Kael who's the leader of the men of orcs or the men of the leader of the evil men of the black pact that he is from Dunland and so we made our way down there um down past Tharbad which I showed um Durhill where his father was buried around here and then we went through Tharbad where his father passed away and we came down all the way to Dunland which is near Isengard and the road to Gondor and Rohan you see the R there um There we run into Kael, we have a little skirmish, and we capture him, and he gives us information that Targon, who is the leader of all of this, is trying to come to Anumenis.

I'm going to actually zoom out a little bit so you can kind of see more of the journey.

Exactly.

Now, contrast that with the theme for Isengard, the industrial fortress of the corrupted wizard Saruman.

That theme is driven by harsh metallic percussion, literally hitting anvils.

And it's written in a jarring, unnatural, five, four times signature.

It literally sounds like a relentless machine.

So the music is doing the heavy lifting for the narrative.

The script doesn't need a character to stop and say, hey, Isengard is an industrial nightmare destroying nature because the anvils in the orchestra are already beating that into your subconscious.
