Isaiah 24

This is day 258.

Our Old Testament reading today is Isaiah 24 through 26.

See, the Lord is going to lay waste the earth and devastate it.

He will ruin its face and scatter its inhabitants.

Open our eyes that we may behold wonderful things in your word.

Old Testament reading, Isaiah chapter 24 through Isaiah chapter 27.

Isaiah chapter 24, beginning at verse 1.

The Lord will judge the earth.

Look, the Lord is ready to devastate the earth and leave it in ruins.

They will be imprisoned in a pit, locked up in a prison, and after staying there for a long time, they will be punished.

The full moon will be covered up, the bright sun will be darkened, for the Lord of heaven's armies will rule on Mount Zion in Jerusalem in the presence of his assembly in majestic splendor.

Isaiah chapter 25 O Lord, you are my God.

But I was lowered in a basket from a window in the wall and slipped through his hands.

Isaiah Chapter twenty-four, twenty-five and twenty-six.

See, the Lord is going to lay waste the earth and devastate it; he will ruin its face and scatter its inhabitants.

It will be the same for priest as for people, for the master as for his servant, for the mistress as for her servant, for the seller as for the buyer, for borrower as for lender, for debtor as for creditor.

They will be herded together like prisoners bound in a dungeon; they will be shut up in prison and be punished after many days.

The moon will be dismayed, the sun ashamed; for the Lord Almighty will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and before its elders, with great glory.

Isaiah chapter twenty-five.

Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name.

Let me just show you a few of them.

The first one is Isaiah chapter 43 verse two.

God says this.

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.

You were made to be loved by God.

In fact, here's what the Bible says.

Isaiah 49 verse 15.

God says this.

But now let's move on to lesson number two, powerful and personal.

Isaiah 24 and 25.

Truth, Jesus Christ is powerful enough to defeat death and compassionate enough to wipe away our tears.

I get a fire in the bones for teaching this lesson in thinking that how it can help our students to understand Christ's character on a much deeper level.

Yep, he's got the power to swallow up death itself.

But he also has the compassion to notice and wipe away every tear that it causes.

What should the teacher know for this lesson? Isaiah 24 contains prophecies of destruction, judgment, and loss.

But Isaiah 25 turns the reader's attention toward what God will ultimately do for his people.

It's been the case since the Garden of Eden.

Isaiah 24, verses 4 through 6.

I'll just read them here for sake of time.

But you'll see in Isaiah 24, these verses seem to be describing what John's describing in Revelation 16.

Isaiah 24, verse 4.

The earth mourns and fades away.

Just fading away.

Someone wrote this.

Malachi 4, Isaiah 24, among others, is the final boss.

No matter what the world does or doesn't do, it's checkmate all the way.

So in other words, he's saying the scriptures are going to hold true.

I thought about that.

And you flip through the pages, and it's going to take you a while, but you go through to Revelation 22.

You go all the way through, and you mark what it talks about that day, that day, that day.

It is so abundant, from Isaiah through Malachi.
