Taste The Blood Of Dracula
S

But I can still watch it again.
S
57:14SmokeyHOST
Same with, same with Serbian Film or Irreversible, I could watch them again.
P
57:18Philip Gwynne JonesHOST
No, I don't think I could.

62 - Jane Campion - Two Friends
R
16:39Ryan SaylorHOST
So my points of comparison, obviously very different films, but my films that I've seen that have done a backwards narrative structure memento, where that's a key part of its design is how the mystery is revealed.
R
16:55Ryan SaylorHOST
And it gets you kind of in the headspace of the character and And then Irreversible, which the reason it's going backwards is to paint scenes in a new light.
R
17:06Ryan SaylorHOST
Like you see all this horrible stuff that will end the night.
R
17:09Ryan SaylorHOST
And so when it gets to a more standard romance and breakup film, whatever the second half that is the first half of the story of Irreversible is.
R
17:19Ryan SaylorHOST
Yeah, there's just dramatic irony.
R
17:21Ryan SaylorHOST
And so I was thinking about those.
R
17:22Ryan SaylorHOST
This obviously leans more toward the dramatic irony, but I'm not positive that the scenes really benefited from the narrative structure.
R
17:32Ryan SaylorHOST
And I think the main thing for me was...
The ABC Murders (2018)
A
4:35AdamHOST
Yeah.
A
4:36AdamHOST
I regard Gaspar Noé's Irreversible as kind of a work of art.
A
4:39AdamHOST
It is.
A
4:40AdamHOST
In a way, because it moves you to feel something.
SoN 120: Streets of Vengeance
D
45:25DocHOST
Dude, that would have been...
D
45:26DocHOST
Like, use the CGI like they did in Irreversible.
D
45:29DocHOST
Smash his fucking head and then show a fucking watermelon on the ground covered in fucking chiro syrup blood and some fucking, you know...
S

A wig from Deseret.
🎙️ HORROR WITH SIR. STURDY EP 607: – ONE NIGHT. ONE TAKE. NO WAY OUT.MADS
T
42:39TrevorPANELIST
No, it's actually 24, pardon me, a 24-hour span.
T
42:42TrevorPANELIST
It was by Gaspar Noé, Monica Bellucci, Vincent Casale, Irreversible, famous for its exceedingly long assault scene.
T
42:53TrevorPANELIST
But that film is paced in a way, and it's written in a way that... that there are two versions.
T
43:04TrevorPANELIST
Like, for the 20th, Noé reworked his editing that it literally flipped it around, and it still was a great story that hit totally differently.
Brain Melt Episode Five: Little Nightmares

this did not make me feel that way i did not feel any kind of way watching this where i was like grossed out because it's for somebody with half a brain uh it's easy to see there's distinctions here like there's there's a more complex narrative there's there's know uh a lot of play it's an artistic film uh and it just it didn't it didn't bother me at all the way a lot of those things do so i mean i can see why some people at the time and maybe later you know if you have a very like puritanical view and you take everything literally um i can see why you'd get upset but i i don't think there's it was all kind of a nothing burger with this movie
C
33:37ChrisHOST
I think you could probably draw some parallels to the rape scene in Irreversible in the sense that there's enough of a movie around it where you're like, okay, the director probably went a little bit too far, but there's still a movie there, right? It's not just pure exploitation.
B
33:54Bill CampbellHOST
Thank you.
B
33:55Bill CampbellHOST
That's kind of what I was driving at.
286: Bedevilled (South Korea)
M
10:48MarcusHOST
Yeah.
M
10:49MarcusHOST
It's Martyrs, Irreversible for very graphic rape in that movie.
M
10:55MarcusHOST
It's just – it's difficult.
M
10:57MarcusHOST
And it's like the rest of the movie is so – insane anyway that it's just like it feels like torture watching it sure the girl next door which i have no idea why i wrote watched it after i read the book that's the jack kitchum novel where they kidnap the girl and just torture her for the entire book in horrible ways you know like i read the book i have no idea why i read that watched the movie you
8 MINS LATER
L
19:35LukeHOST
I mean, yeah, you wonder what the atmosphere on set must be like.
M
19:41MarcusHOST
Well, and it's like...
M
19:42MarcusHOST
Do they keep it light? The simulated rape with Monica Bellucci in Irreversible, like...
M
19:50MarcusHOST
It goes on for like 10 minutes.
Climax (2018)
D
32:43DarrenHOST
Before the mid-movie credits, it's definitely building up to something.
D
32:48DarrenHOST
Irreversible was told in reverse.
D
32:51DarrenHOST
Enter the Void was very stylistic.
D
32:53DarrenHOST
I've never seen Love, but I imagine it's probably not really much about love.
444 - Oscar Boyson on Directing Our Hero, Balthazar, Working with The Neistat Brothers, Empathy Machines vs. Validation Machines, and Failing in Public

Maybe the context should be everyone's gushing over this film, and you're like, "It's okay, but guys, come on."
O
78:08Oscar BoysonGUEST
For a while, that movie was Irreversible by Gaspar Noé for me.
C
78:13Chris BarkleyHOST
Yeah.
O
78:13Oscar BoysonGUEST
But as I get older and it's just like, gosh, this movie, I'm still thinking about it and it made such a strong impression on me, it's hard for me to be like I, I, I don't, I don't hate it, you know?
STARBOY & DISCOVERY WITH PAUL NOLAN & KILIAN MURPHY
P
34:11Paul NolanHOST
Apex Twin, yeah, the first one I did, yeah.
P
34:13Paul NolanHOST
I remember him saying that, I think for Irreversible, he had, you know, talked to Thomas Banja and Tor.
P
34:19Paul NolanHOST
I think he did some of the music for Irreversible.
P
34:21Paul NolanHOST
And certainly for that film, Climax was the one that I interviewed Gaspar Noy for, and I think he contributed to that as well.
P
34:28Paul NolanHOST
Brilliant.
