Um, so right now I'm juggling a couple of books.

Um, one is the- Thrice-Banned Fool by Christopher Beuhlman, um, which I'm having a, a great time with, and the other is Iron Gold by Pierce Brown.

Um, so I read the first three back to back, uh, in end of last year, beginning of...

End of last year, and they just blew me away.

Uh, but I stopped because I thought, okay, it felt like a natural place to stop at the end of Morning Star, and I knew the, that the next section wasn't finished yet, so I thought, "I'll just be upset if I get burned through them, and I'm waiting for the last one." So [laughs] I paused, but, um, I just couldn't hold off any longer, so I started Iron Gold a few weeks ago now.

Well, we're buddy reading Iron Gold, 'cause I'm rereading it right now, so.

We're covering chapters 22 through 30.

That's part two of Iron Gold: Shadow.

This is a stretch where we learn how the Rim actually works, and the answer is badly and at knife point.

Um, so this week we are talking about chapters 22 through 30 of Iron Gold.

This, this section of, of Iron Gold starts a pattern that Pierce does that I despise, and it's...

On the second reread since we just dove into Iron or, uh, Golden Son in depth and we talked about how both Kavax and Daxo come up to, to Darrow at, at, at different times and really are like worried about democracy.

You're kind of letting the low colors do a lot of heavy lifting here.

Like is this what you're angling at? And they don't...

That's what I had down.

Um, and then Chuck wrote, "There will be three, three siblings who can predict murder, and no one will commit crimes." [laughs]

Ironically though, really weird t- t- tie-in, I believe that started as a Stanley Kubrick movie, and then he died halfway through filming and it went to Spielberg to finish.

Oh, interesting.

And it is our September book club.

And as promised, we are reading or reviewing Iron Gold by Pierce Brown.

It's been a long time coming.

Yeah.

So iron gold basically takes us to 10 years post rising.

Um, so post conclusion of morning star and it follows four different characters this time around, including our homeboy Darrow.

All right.

Well, we're doing the end of part one of... iron gold yes

um and we kind of just jump right into it really um darrow is not gonna quite follow the senate and so he decides that he's gonna just kind of go take down the ash lord by himself he does corral the howlers and he's like i'm gonna go take down the ash lord you all don't have to come with me or you can it's totally your choice and then lyria is dealing with the aftermath of attack on her camp She kind of just then becomes aware of the state of the rest of her family.

You know, she had checked in on her dad.

And I think it's, it's also there's, There's this wonderful bit that we don't get any of or very little of the Romulus-Diametes father-son relationship.

I think you see some of it in Iron Gold, but it's so brief.

And getting to kind of see that a little bit more is nice.

I wish we got a whole fucking book of just the two of them.

Pretty recently, I've got to say, I'm about halfway through, but Red Rising is rising to the top of my favorites of all time.

Man, I'm on iron gold right now.

So that could very much change.

I've still got, you know, basically like two and a half books left of the books that are out.

And then, you know, life, kids, work, all the things.

I'm so excited, by the way.
