Anne ThompsonHOST

That was playing in Telluride.

And unfortunately, it was very much overshadowed by Elsinore, the Andrew Scott movie.
Ryan LattanzioHOST

He's really not doing well.
Ryan LattanzioHOST

But I found it to be... saccharine in a way that the man i love totally shirked all those cliches the man i love has some other cliches but it has some other

problems ryan and the difference between these two films if i may be so bold is the two central performances now you could argue that the andrew scott ian charleston character is heroic and lovely and charming and you you like him What the other movie does, The Man I Love, Ira Sachs does, is he takes Rami Malek and makes him really dislikable and over the top, and he chews up the scenery, and there's all sorts of choices that they made, perhaps bravely, but I found the performance very off-putting.

There's one scene, which I told you later, really got to me because I thought about it a lot, and it's a scene where he sings, and it's beautiful.
Kenny MilesGUEST
30:20
So there is a few scenes where he does do that.
Kenny MilesGUEST
30:23
But, you know, the Ira Sachs movie, it was really like a vibe almost.
Kenny MilesGUEST
30:28
And I mean, it did have a plot, but you did see a lot of scenes of just people hanging out or just kind of like like people talking.
Kenny MilesGUEST
30:35
But it's definitely a movie that will play.
Megan McLaughlinHOST

Clarence MoyHOST

Are we done?
Josh ParhamGUEST

But yeah, I, I just think that he seems like a very thoughtful person.
Josh ParhamGUEST
14:43
Uh, and I, and now he's like hooked up with, with Ira Sachs too, which is another one of my favorite filmmakers, so it, it, I like his choices.
Josh ParhamGUEST

it's like the ultimate cool nocturnal revenge fantasy action flick it's got a kind of neo-noir edge and Ryan Gosling is playing this kind of race of taciturn unnamed getaway driver who wants to rescue Kerry Mulligan in some ways the driver is more like a kind of knight errant from a fairy tale except that his weapon is a hammer instead of a sword and he's living in this ultra blood-soaked modern LA but it it's a different sort of film to Basic Instinct I think if you If you like that sort of thing, you'll like that.

And then in terms of films with famous sex scenes, if you like, I was thinking of Passages from 2023, directed by Ira Sachs.
ChloeHOST
72:00
And that's about a gay couple whose life is thrown into chaos when the very self-absorbed main character falls in love with a woman.
ChloeHOST
72:08
And it was noted at the time for its very kind of frank, very lustful, but quite realistic sex scenes.
