And a lot of the J.I., Aby Buckshear, and these sorts of characters, they came from, they were kicked out of Indonesia.

They went to Ipoh in Malaysia, where they sort of got it together and set up relations with al-Qaeda and bin Laden.

And it went from there.

And Malaysia's kind of, Yes, it's secular, as some people would describe it as a hybrid secular, if that's not an oxymoron.

Now I can't remember the places I went.

I remember going to, say, Ipoh or maybe even down south.

You can even pop into, say, private museums.

I mean, people show off their private collections in Malacca, maybe Nyonya Baba, furniture, attire, culture, that sort of thing.

I think that's about an hour.

And then you have some Chinese duck noodles, wonton mee, chee cheong fun, whatever it is.

and then get back on the highway go up to Ipoh have your taugeh and chicken rice maybe some rojak yeah and then next stop one more maybe rest stop on the way to Taiping In Taiping, we probably got to do some nasi lemak just to get the Malay food in.

We already had mamak and Chinese.

Uh, I think it started in the 1930s or 1940s or 1950s, sometime like this.

Uh, my mum was actually a member in Ipoh in Malaysia.

So this Irish lady [laughs] went over to Malaysia, and she was running with the Hash House Harriers in Ipoh, and it started, um, in Malaysia, and it's obviously expanded all around the world.

And so as a result, you get these really beautiful old houses with huge lawns.

And, uh, I can remember one incident that we were very close to the rear and, um, we, we were the only aircraft to see the target.

But one, one aircraft was stopped by ground control from dropping on Ipoh, an Ipoh roundabout.

And, you know, if, if you're a Malaysian of a certain age, yeah, you remember the little Mercedes-Benz logo revolving just outside of Ipoh as you're coming into Ipoh town.

Mm.

Up on a limestone rock, you'll see the Ipoh, you know, uh ...

Th- th- this is like a landmark la, you know, to say that, "Oh, I'm about to reach Ipoh." And the reason for that is because they sold so many Mercedes-Benz in Ipoh because all the rich tin miners wanted a Mercedes-Benz.

Hmm.

So there were more Mercedes-Benz being sold in, in Ipoh than any other part of Malaysia.

That is why Cycle & Carriage opened their showroom there, started selling cars.

So targeting high-density urban centers like Kuala Lumpur or Selangor will inherently cost way more than targeting the exact same keywords in Penang or Ipoh.

There are simply more advertisers competing for the same finite number of eyeballs.
