Yeah, it's not hard to understand the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are, I've seen two different reviews, both Marques's and the one that you're showing right now from John Gruber at Derek Fireball.

They say, you know, remember way back when Apple used to have like the iPhone 6 and then the next year was the 6S or the iPhone 4 and the 4S.

And we used to sort of colloquially refer to the S upgrades as it's the same iPhone as last year, but a little bit better.

And a number of people have said that the new iPhone 18 Pro It's the same as the 17 Pro, which was one of the all-time great iPhones, was the 17 Pro and Pro Max.

They've done the thing that they do sometimes, which is where they stack software upgrades on top that actually have no reason to be reserved for this device, which does annoy me actually when they do this.

And they, they've always done it, you know, going right back to things like with the iPhone 6S introducing live photos.

That's not a, that's not a camera feature.

That's a software feature.

But let's take you back to 2015.

and so so that I think has a lot of potential but at the end of the day I do think they need to make the pro phones Thicker, I mean thinner, not thicker, please God, strike that from the record.

Because, I don't know, I just, I feel like we are in this era with especially smartphones of pragmatism, right? When you go back to the late Steve Jobs, early Tim Cook era, that was where every generation had to be thinner than the last, up until the iPhone 6S, that's when they kind of gave up on that.

But, I kind of miss that to some degree.

Like, obviously the post-Johnny Ive Apple has been way more pragmatic.

But this year, that normal pre-order day would fall on Friday, September 11th.

The last time that a normal iPhone pre-order day would have fallen on September 11th was in 2015 with the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

In recognition of September 11th, Apple moved the iPhone 6S pre-order day to the following Saturday, September 12th.

It's looking like Apple will do the same thing this year with pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra, reportedly set to kick off on Saturday, September 12th, instead of Friday, September 11th.

And Apple might be even more inclined than usual to do this, as 2026 is the 25th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks.
