iPadOS

How do you transition? How do you update the operating system to kind of handle this? So the interesting thing is, if you remember, iPad OS broke off from iOS to kind of become its own thing and kind of develop its own features.

But with the iPhone Duo, There are multitasking features coming to iOS that are basically pulled from iPadOS, so now it's like iPadOS and iOS are now merging back together a little bit for the iPhone Duo.

It's a little strange.

I don't know.

They only talked about features coming to their operating systems.

They didn't break it out into Mac OS, iOS, iPad OS or anything like that, which is the first time that they had ever done that before.

so that's kind of as much of a evidence that you need that all these operating systems are kind of starting to merge together if they weren't already because for years now at WWDC we talked about this is they would say this feature during a certain segment like there's talk about the iMessage features when talking about the iPhone or iOS rather, but that was also coming to iPadOS and also the Mac.

And then they would talk about features coming to the Mac, which also were coming to iOS and iPadOS.

This private cloud compute is behind this reference image develops into an unalterable reference image.

Reference images can be viewed in the photos app alongside the main image like a digital negative to visually compare the two assets and determine If any edits were made, APIs are available in iOS, iPadOS, MacOS for third party apps to enable viewing of these reference images.

So even with a feature like that, is that like enough to be like, oh, OK, that's cool.

Or is it kind of like a man? You know, I'm not really worried about that yet, although I do see the importance of it.

Just ahead of last Wednesday's event, a piece from Apple Insider had the Cupertino company releasing iOS and iPadOS 26.6.2. Release notes on my iPad say the update fixes an issue that prevents downloading a software update over a cellular connection.

Odd to see that on my iPad, what with it not being a cellular model.

Still, it's out there.

I have been on this show before talking about iPadOS.

I've said some things about what's going on.

Oh, yeah.

I don't know what they'll do.

I, I can't imagine using final cut pro on an iPad mini, let alone a duo, let alone a folded and half do like what, what is left? What can you show? Yeah.

But, uh, but anyway, uh, This is not just iPadOS.

It's a lot of similar stuff, but they have done a custom multitasking.

We have three reviews coming out for four different operating systems.

I'm doing iOS and iPadOS 27.

John is doing macOS 27 and watchOS 27.

A first for John.

And so that's cool that that's there.

Like, I feel like they, I mean, again, we haven't used it, but I feel like they did a pretty good job at like taking what, what you would want from iPadOS and, to something like this, right? It's simpler than iPadOS.

In fact, in some ways, it's like iPadOS was like three years ago or something.

But I think in practice, it's going to work pretty well.
