You'll certainly never get anything done and signed by the governor." And I said, "I refuse.

Uh, you can teach a monkey to come up here and push the red button over and over." And especially being the first permanently disabled member of the Iowa Legislature, I didn't know the next time we'd have somebody with a disability coming through those doors.

And so I did the hard work behind the scenes, stuff that people will never, ever see or hear about, building relationships, uh, you know, find, finding strange bed, bedfellows, working with people where I say, "Look, we may disagree on 80, 90% of issues, but we can agree on this.

Even worse, he thinks you don't care.

The Waukee Police Department is ending its relationship with automated license plate reader company Flock Safety.

Police Chief Chad McCluskey says the move comes as the 2027 Iowa Legislature is expected to consider legislation related to license plate reader technology.

He said while f- the Flock system has been effective, including helping the department find an elderly man with dementia, there are also a number of concerns over privacy and data retention.

McCluskey says Waukee will continue to evaluate the technology and monitor the 2027 legislative session and revisit the decision once Iowa's legal framework is clear.
