is uniquely the American dream.

In no other country on earth could someone like me, with my economic situation that I grew up in, or my healthcare situation that I grew up in, could I go on to win gold medals to represent my country, or to be able to represent my community at the Iowa Legislature, or certainly run for the United States Senate.

And I'm seeing that American dream eroded away.

Now the average age of the first time home buyer, 41 years old.

I came out and said I want to be Iowan's best ally.

She voted essentially 100 percent of the time with her party.

I have been one of the most bipartisan members of the Iowa legislature, one of the most effective.

Iowans are ready to once again have a common sense prairie populace that's fighting for them, not someone like Ashley Henson that's going up there to enrich herself from her position of power.

And what we were finding was since Iowa had privatized its Medicaid system, a 1,000% increase in denial rate.

And, and then I'd found out with further research that even though we're a state of 150 years and a governing body of 150 members, uh, we had never had a permanently physically disabled member of the Iowa legislature.

Hmm.

And I thought, "It's gotta be because of this complete and total lack of representation is why we're seeing all these barriers to healthcare and to employment." And so, uh, I decided to run, and decided to, to run for the US Senate.

Mm.

And that's what I want to get back to, you know, and, and people that are willing to work across the aisle.

One of the things that I'm the most proud of in my time in the Iowa Legislature is I've been independently recognized as one of the most bipartisan and one of the most effective, and I've been willing to do the work behind the scenes that no one will ever see of building relationships and saying, "Look, we disagree on 95% of policy, but we agree on this issue.

Let's work together on that, even if I have to take my name off it." It's amazing what we can accomplish when no one cares who takes credit, and that's what I think is missing in the Senate.

Sala- Salazar said he has been door-knocking, and both Democrats and Republican residents have expressed the same affordability concerns he seeks to address.

"We are getting good responses at the doors on these issues," Salazar said about overcoming the incumbent challenge, "and I think people right now are hungry for change and for something that's going to move our communities forward." Mark Cisneros, age fifty-six, general manager according to the Iowa Legislature website.

He represented House District ninety-six since twenty twenty-three and represented House District ninety-one, which included Muscatine before redistricting from the twenty twenty census.

Cisneros did not return multiple requests for comment for this article.

And just, just to give you a little background, so there is a promotion board at Iowa Corn, and there's, there, there's directors there, and then there's the association side.

So the association side, which I am on, is allowed to lobby y- on behalf of Iowa Corn at the Iowa Legislature and at the Congress of the United States.

The promotion board is not allowed to lobby because they're, they are elected by anybody that grows corn in Iowa and contributes to the Iowa Corn checkoff.

So being that that is not an association, they are not allowed to lobby on behalf of Iowa Corn.

this is the problem now.

And, and, and part of that that bothers me too is, so the Iowa Legislature was convened by the governor right away, like an emergency session, get in there to give a 1.4 billion tax credit.

Mm-hmm.

Um, this was, I think, October 2nd, uh, they-

I just don't really believe it.

Like, c- they-- The Iowa Legislature passed a kratom ban, and then Kim Reynolds didn't sign it for some reason.

Oh, is that what happened with that? She never signed that?

I think so.
