Invermere

... janky and roots and rocks and steep up, steep down.

Like, there's just not, like in, in Invermere, you could hop on the gravel bike and literally you could ride for several hundred kilometers and just be on gravel roads.

Mm-hmm.

Right? Right out the back door.

Uh, what is on your head?

Oh, we got a, this is, um, one of my Invermere hats.

This is an old brewery in Invermere that has since closed.

But it is the, uh, the Arrowhead Brewery.

Their five-year anniversary hat back in 2018 or something.

So I ended up having like all this time on my hands.

So I was waiting for a store to open in Invermere so that I could pop in there.

And I was running errands and I was walking into my favorite coffee shop and there was a guy sitting on the bench outside of it.

And I knew of him.

When you're in a rural area, like Banff is considered a rural, even though we're really a mini city, like really mini, there's like 8,000 people, but we're concentrated in a small spot.

There's other small areas like Invermere and Golden, which are about an hour and a half, two hours from me.

And so I happened to connect with Colette, who was the only dancer teacher in Golden and Sandra, who was the only dancer teacher in Invermere.

They were like intermediate dancers who just loved it, you know, as much as I did.

And so they were having their little classes and they were trying to put on shows and things like that.

Oh.

Boys, I am in Invermere, British Columbia.

Oh, beautiful.

Oh, nice.

We went on a vacation recently, and we decided to keep going with vacations.

Yeah, we're going to Invermere, BC.

Mm-hmm.

Mm-hmm.

I mentioned in the first segment that I'm heading out to Revelstoke.

I'm also going to make the drive over to Invermere to play Grey Wolf.

So Grey Wolf has been on my bucket list for a long time.

And I've got a good buddy of mine in Calgary and we've been talking about it forever.

So that was good for the heart rate.

But anyway, I moved to Invermere, BC, which is in the East Kootenay.

Has anybody been to Invermere? Yeah, so I moved to, because that's where the best hang gliding was, and all of the best pilots lived there, and I flew full-time.

So there's a picture of me coming in for landing at Grouse Mountain.

So, in order for you to understand this little story I'm gonna tell you, you have to understand how a hang glider flies, basically.

The skill is learning to do that.

And then when you can do that, you can find lift, You find some lift, you can circle up in it, and then you can dive down, and then you can climb up again, and you can dive down.

So the world record's about 150 miles if somebody's flown in a hang glider, just climbing up and flying down again, right? And so, When I lived in Invermere, we used to fly up and down the valley.
