If you could borrow any writer's brain for a day just to see how it works, whose would you choose?
Fiona HardyGUEST

I have to say this isn't a climb one, but John Krakauer, who wrote Into Thin Air about his time climbing Everest, he is my favorite writer altogether.
Fiona HardyGUEST
30:18

For some reason, it's just the one that I want to read when I'm in a particular mindset of the book that I'm writing.

But I also read a lot of fiction as well, and I also love narrative nonfiction, which is books that take something that happened in real life and then tell this amazing story.
Tim DugganGUEST
47:24
So my recommendation is Into the Wild by John Krakow, and he wrote an amazing book called Into Thin Air, which was originally this book about – a group of climbers that climbed up Mount Everest and tragedy happened.
Tim DugganGUEST
47:40
And he wrote this, like, they're these amazing nonfiction accounts of what happens.
Tim DugganGUEST

And Into Thin Air was the second book he wrote after Into the Wild.

And it basically follows a young man in the 90s in America who, decided to go into the wild and check out from life and try and find himself it's a very extreme book um it got turned into a movie an excellent movie which most people might know but it's quite an extreme book because it talks about kind of checking out from life and part of that is checking out from family and friends and it's quite a hard read sometimes as well because for all of his admiration that you have that he was able to have the courage to stand up and do this there's also this sadness that he walked away from his family and his friends and when he was i'm not giving anything away because this happened in the 90s but when he was found can i give a spoiler here absolutely when he's found dead inside his um it was a bus school bus that he was lived there he basically had a note in his diary that said that life is better when shared with other people And that was the one thing that I really take from this, which is he almost had to go the complete opposite extreme direction to understand that life's actually about connection and community and sharing it with other people.
