Sunshine, mixing in with some high clouds, especially this afternoon through New York and south of I-89, it will be warmer.

Highs climbing into the low and mid-70s, along with a light south breeze, except gusty in the Champlain Valley up to 30 mph.

In terms of rainfall, no rain during the day today, but showers will arrive tonight starting in the Hudson Valley about midnight and then spreading north and east, generally from the Champlain Valley eastward, covering 80% of the area.

Winds diminishing to light and variable.

Saturday, areas of dense valley fog burning off by mid-morning, sunshine mixing with increasing afternoon clouds through New York and south of I-89, warmer tomorrow, highs in the low to mid-70s, winds will be generally light from the south, but west of the Green Mountains increasing up to 25 mph through the Champlain Valley.

Saturday night, periods of clouds, some scattered showers from the Hudson Valley northeast to about Route 2, milder, 50s to near 60, along with a gusty south wind, and then Sunday, any morning showers east and south tapering off, periods of clouds, limited sun, scattered afternoon showers, mainly from the Adirondacks and Route 4 north, highs in the 70s, along with a gusty south and southwest breeze.

A weakening cold front along the international border has created rain clouds into the upper greens early this morning.

Expect a band of scattered showers pushing south until around I-89, then clearing before noon, only bringing around a tenth of an inch to the rain-thirsty northeast.

Sunshine will return this afternoon, especially in the northeast, offsetting the cool air settling in over the northern mountains.

And fair weather continues through Tuesday night.

Showers are likely today through New York and from I-89 south, diminishing this afternoon.

There'll be a few breaks of sun across parts of Quebec and the northeast with a chance of a shower there late.

Highs mid-60s to mid-70s, coolest south, warmest northeast.

Today's showers are running along and ahead of a weather front stalled to our west, and it means from New York through I-89 and southward, 80% of the area will see rainfall amounts of a tenth to a quarter of an inch, but that quickly decreases north and east of I-89, little if anything across the Northeast Kingdom, northern New Hampshire, and the eastern townships.

A more substantial rain arrives late tomorrow and tomorrow night, many locations a half an inch to an inch of rain.
