Internet Protocol

So, you know, over the years there have been many different kinds of protocols that combine computers in order to make them do different things.

The internet, which came into being, modern internet came into being January 1983, if I'm right, introduced these protocols called TCPIP, and that's Transmission Control Protocol and IP Internet Protocol.

And these combine different kinds of network uh, hardware, like, you know, routing devices as well as computers to allow for the transmission of either packets of data or streams of data.

So, um, uh, the highest layer, you know, our videos probably, um, using flowing over transmission control protocol and, um, below that, the thing that pulls all these different global pieces of network hardware together to make the global internet is called internet protocol.

With a network protocol, which is just really a set of rules that define how different devices communicate with each other and the roles they play, you can create something as grand as the internet itself.

And nobody owns the internet.
