International Nurses Day

England's offer of a burial in Westminster Abbey, one of the nation's highest honors, was declined by her relatives, and she is buried in the churchyard of St. Margaret's Church in East Willow, Hampshire, near Embley Park, with a memorial with just her initials and date of birth and death.

Every May 12th, International Nurses Day in honor of Florence Nightingale.

And now one last thing.

Since she never married, there have, of course, been questions about her sexuality.
