was like Intergalactic with a vocoder and I went on to be in a band with a vocoder and you know clearly an obsession with synthesizers but there was a point there where I was like if it's not a distorted electric guitar and if it's got more than three chords it's not music and from there every single moment of like some people switching lights on for me or offering me like a sort of avenue of thought.

And it started with my high school music teacher, who oddly through marriage now, he's my wife's uncle.

And from there... every single moment of like some people switching lights on for me or offering me like a sort of avenue of thought and it started with my high school music teacher who oddly through marriage now is he's my wife's uncle so I now get to see him I think later today I'm going to get to see him at a family event but he was the one who took me aside and said just because you haven't been classically trained doesn't mean music can't be your career and in the same sentence was like this is a mixing desk and and this is a cassette recorder and I've chatted to him since he's not long he's been retired for a good few years and he now was like yeah I needed someone to take care of a problem for me so I just thought you could do it and that was me like from that moment at 14 I was you know we were doing like sound for concerts and assemblies and like but I was getting my friends who were in bands on the stage you know after school learning how to record them on a cassette I was going home and recording like my mom and dad's pc taking a little gooseneck mic and walking around recording like um cartoons off the tv and turning those into songs on my brother's four track tape recorder like whatever sort of experiments i could do yet you know from 14 to 17 which isn't a very long time but when you're in those years it's an eternity yeah

I don't have, like, a hardline opinion on them 'cause, like, what's it been, 15 years since I've heard one of their songs? So it's whatever.
