And Alyssa's gonna have it on her SMART Board.

Um, so anyway.

[laughs]

You said you were the one who was in trouble on going to the principal's office.

And there's a story in the book that I really enjoyed, and I related to it, but I also found myself back with my principal hat on thinking about Someone who would have just gotten a new smart board and would tell me, you know, nope, I'm never using that thing.

You're wasting your money putting it in here.

Talk a little bit about that story.

for two years.

So I was gone for three years.

I was gone during the time that everyone got a smartphone and a smart board.

And that's when you were here.

I'm showing them, I'm reading them, we're doing it together, we're making a big anchor chart.

So this time, we are going to do it again, and they're gonna have their own f- four square worksheet, whether or not you do it on the floor with, um, clipboards or they're at their seat watching from the overhead, the SMART Board, whatever you choose to use.

I'm going to put the same four square organizer in front of them.

I'm still working through it, but this time they're copying kinda what I model.

We're doing it together, just in a different format, and we're gonna work through it one box at a time.

Who's the story about? Where did it happen? What do we really need to remember from the beginning? What happened in the middle? How did it end? So we're gonna be talking about their ideas together.

I'll model what we're putting on the SMART Board, and they'll add those same ideas to their own four square planners.

So now that you've watched me do it once, and they've done it with me once, um, then I'm ready to see what they can do.

And one of the things when I taught, I would always think about seating with intention, because a class has gotta grow like a team.

And it's interesting, I watched a teacher with a SMART Board that had created, um, a algor- an algorithm in the background that it looked like they were randomly shuffling seats, but in the background it had basically like never put, [laughs] you know, these two people together.

So like, don't let all the defenders be on the same, be in the same room.

And so it can be done lots of different ways, but if it's not done intentionally, it feels like a waste of time, and it fee- and it doesn't build any closer.

OK, I just went back 15 years in teaching.

On the smart board with the document camera.

With my worksheet.

And have them do it with me.

And then.

Thursday, I might read another story, and I'm going to see what they come up with.

We're still gonna talk about it, but I'm not going to write it up on the SMART Board.

I'm going to let them actually write that out on the SMART Board, and they're going to identify their problem and solution.
