Code completion

It was really good.

And moving forward, you know, like end of 2019, we started to see some ML-assisted auto-completion, like IntelliSense and so on.

So, you know, providing better quality recommendations.

Then came GitHub Copilot in 2021 that provided some code snippet capabilities.

And that was unambiguously an improvement.

Then time ticked on, and the next stop point, I think, where tooling came along and changed the way we program was IntelliSense.

And that materially changed the way I didn't have to remember all of the documentation or forever go hunting for it.

I would type object name dot and then hit control space, and I'd get a list of all the things that object could do.
