Integral theory

And the broken system is either authoritarian or chaotic or some other nasty solution.

And that's why I created integral theory.

to include all of the factors that were being excluded and denied and made part of the broken system.

So, I mean, integral is a solution to the brokenness.

yeah And do you see anywhere in the world a top-down approach that is hopeful to create real change in the right direction?

Well, not really.

I mean, if you want to find out one, you can read some books on integral theory or read one of my books and you'll learn what it is.

And then you can start thinking of ways to apply it.

So first, Well, let me say a couple of things.

And unique self became before we kind of go into what it became kind of central to the new chapters we unpacked within integral theory.

Right.

So there were there were kind of there were there were a number of things that we've tried to do over the years, you know, tenderly and audaciously.

And one of them is is together.

Ken and I have tried to unpack essentially new chapters in integral theory, you know, and one has been the unique self.

And we actually did, Sean Esbjerg-Hargans, and I always make sure to get all of Sean's names, right? You know, did a, when he was editing, what was it called? The Journal of Integral Theory and Practice.

So a volume, I think six, you know, was dedicated to unique self theory, which emerges, which is ultimately sourced in Radical Kabbalah.

It's not what I thought it was.

So what is going on? And, you know, while holding those questions, I came across integral theory and the work of Ken Wilber and I became fascinated with this idea that we grow up and that we change as we unfold through time and it started to, it gave me a way of attempting to understand myself and my pain and understanding others and why would somebody murder an innocent man? You know, all of these things, all of those kinds of questions come up when we look at development because development, one aspect of it is an exploration of how do we make meaning How does that meaning change as we change?

Okay, those are the big questions.

And, well, there's several directions we could go here, but just to emphasize the importance of what you just said, that you started asking questions.

But the story, as a physicist, the story came together in a particular way because of your background.

You mentioned integral theory.

You mentioned in your cover letter that you sent to us, and I think in the synopsis of the book, that you like complex villains and that the dark side is not just objectively evil because somebody calls it the dark side.

And so if you can, for the audience, if you want to give a two-sentence definition of integral theory and then just... bring it all together how's that in the physics your your background as a physicist integral theory the books your position on epistemology and metaphysics how's that all come together in this fun little book

can i just ask a a dumb question uh maybe for the audience but primarily for a friend a friend is me um what is integral theory Can we just like start there for, for my friend? Okay.

Integral theory was coined by Ken Wilber.

He's, I think he's a biologist, but, but his theory is like a very cerebral way of looking at holism, including spirituality, psychology and, epistemology, all kinds of like ways of perceiving the world.

And he developed various kind of schemes to explain how we perceive the world and interact with the world.
