And they run their own tests that are usually stricter than the official federal tests.

But I also make sure that we're continuously raising the bar on our consumer ratings as well.

So NHTSA five-star ratings and IIHS top safety pick ratings.

Your showings are very strong with both organizations.

I think we're still working in both realms.

There's still definitely room for improvement.

As you might have noticed, the IIHS frontal moderate overlap test, a lot of people struggled and still do struggle with the rear seat occupants in the back, since that was really the first time that Those seating positions had been really tested for frontal crash.

Of course, it's included inside crash.

Well, and the Toyota RAV4.

And I haven't looked at how they are making the IIHS Top Safety Pick awards, but it got an acceptable in the front overlap.

Did it need to get a good?

Yeah, it has to get a good.

Turning to vehicle safety, cargo vans and heavy duty pickups continue to trail passenger vehicles in front crash prevention.

According to new evaluations from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, many of these commercial vehicles earned only marginal or poor ratings in key crash avoidance tests.

Still, there are bright spots, with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 and several others emerging as top performers.

IIHS President David Harkey stressed the importance of front crash prevention, especially for these larger vehicles given the risks they can pose to other road users.

That would definitely hit me at this height.

We've talked to IIHS, we've talked to NHTSA, they're ratcheting down on pedestrian safety.

They're bringing in some of the European standards actually that are looking at pedestrian safety.

I think it's super critical.

Okay, so it seems like in 2024, almost 2,900 teens between 13 and 19 died from crash injuries in the U.S., and that's according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

So that makes crashes one of the leading causes of death for this age group.

When you're looking, I know my parents' trepidation when I turned 16 and I already had a car.

And you want to avoid giving them too many horsepower because, frankly, it's a lot of temptation for someone whose brain is not fully developed yet.

You mentioned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

We trust their crash test scores above the others.

The government crash test scores are fine, but the insurance industry is a harder grader, so I pay more attention to those.

So again, these are the ramps that go from 71 north and the Jennings Freeway northbound that are shut down until further notice that would typically take you to 90 west.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is out with the first ever ratings on safety technology and commercial vehicles, and they are calling this a wake-up call.

Consumer reporter Jen Picciano reveals the fleet vehicles that are the safest on the road and what they hope companies will do to make sure their drivers and everyone else on the road is safe.

In 2024, more than 6,000 people were killed in crashes involving heavy or medium-duty trucks or light vans.

And so for these ones to come over here, I, like, I get that everything needs to change and be tailored to this market, but it'll be nice to see affordable vehicles.

Because something like what we were talking about before, the Fiat 500e, even though it hasn't been crash tested by IIHS, it's still a good, like, run-around car in your neighborhood.

I'm not trying to drive it, like, on a road trip or long distances.
