Tell me a little bit about the book and what you were hoping to achieve by writing it.

I was very struck by the way in which the mainstream media and the political system were just dismissing these campaigns, particularly from Just Stop Oil, but before that from Insulate Britain and even Extinction Rebellion, as being, uh, irresponsible, irrelevant, and the wrong way to go about it.

And there was a huge amount of demonizing, particularly of young Just Stop Oil campaigners.

I mean, [laughs] the media, it was just a feeding frenzy.

Like, there's, like, a couple things coming from that.

One, it's evolved also out of this other sort of separate group called Insulate Britain, which people might have heard of, which was blocking motorways around the M25.

And one of its kind of like big, uh, let's say, like, problems or criticisms of In- Insulate Britain was it was really dominated by the gray activists or older people.

So Just Stop Oil's, like, kind of first objective is, like, there needs to be younger people in this, in this movement.

There needs to be, like, there needs to be younger people being empowered and in leadership positions.

When they were doing protests that were, you know, significantly more disruptive, it wasn't just kind of adding insult to injury on what is a, a burned landscape, right? Like I, I understand, you know, these, uh, the, the...

If the paint wasn't done correctly, it might have not been easy to get rid of, but I trust Greenpeace when they say that they were careful to make sure that it was something that could wash off because it is a burnt area.

But drastic times call for drastic measures.
