Insidious: The Last Key

Producer Oren Paley was the director, writer, and producer on the original Paranormal Activity from 07, as well as producing Paranormal Activities 2, 3, 4, The Marked Ones, The Ghost Dimension, and Next of Kin.

He was also the producer on Insidious' 1, 2, 3, The Last Key, The Red Door, and Out of the Further.

As well as Chernobyl Diaries and The Bay, which are both found footage horror films.

Interesting.

Yeah, it's been a while since I've watched it, but I do remember that.

he was also in insidious the last key from 2018 he's in along came the devil one and two and he's in suitable flesh from 2023 which is a body horror that I believe

stars Barbara Crampton as well Man, I thought I would know him from more.

Those were pretty big hits, and so they were followed by two movies that were prequels.

Insidious Chapter 3 came out in 2015, and then Insidious The Last Key came out in 2018.

Like I said, these are prequels, so they follow new stories, not about that first family.

And really the only kind of through line with all the movies is the character Elise Rayner, who is the psychic paranormal investigator lady that's been in all of them.

It's now the third highest grossing film in franchise history at $164.1 million.

It is very close to passing Insidious The Last Key.

It may fall just short of Insidious The Red Door, but it's still, for what it costs to make, a pretty good result for that franchise.

Let's return now to the domestic market and take a look at the top per theater averages for this past weekend.

Right.

Then there's Insidious Last Key.

That's the one.

Okay.

Insidious: Out of the Further is now at $60.5 million.

That puts it ahead of the first film, as well as Insidious: Chapter Three on the all-time domestic grosser list, and it's within striking distance of Insidious: The Last Key, though it is not gonna get up to where we have Insidious: The Red Door and Insidious: Chapter Two.

And if you adjust for inflation, it is pretty healthily, uh, in last place in the franchise at 60.5 million.

Insidious: Chapter Three at 75.5 million, adjusted for inflation, with the original at 84.7 million.

I also wanted to update the Insidious worldwide franchise tracker.

So Insidious: Out of the Further is at $155.2 million.

That puts it ahead of Insidious: Chapter 3 and the original Insidious, and very close to catching up to Insidious: Chapter 2 and Insidious: The Last Key.

But if you'll notice, I have Insidious: The Red Door at $189 million.

Like, as you said, it's not really recreating the wheel of horror or the franchise.

Um, it's a step in the right direction, as I said, compared to The Red Door or even the, like, The Last Key or even Chapter 3.

Um, ch- I, I'd kind of put it in the same level as the second movie.

Um, I don't know why James Wan continues to step into franchises and then just disappears.

Mm-hmm.

I- in my opinion, like, The Last Key is the worst one.

Like, that, that one was absolutely just dreadful to me.

And this one, to me...

The Last Key.

The Last Key was bad.

Yeah, The Last Key was not very good.

Yeah.

But

all.

Apart from The Last Key.

I can remember The Last Key better than the rest of them.

You had The Pillow Fort that just kept on going and going and then it got weirdly claustrophobic.

There were some really good set pieces in it.
