Wilson Chapman of IndieWire says, "The action has a satisfying crunch, thinks in part due to Wingard's delight in dousing his actors in buckets of fake blood." David Sims of The Atlantic says, "The film feels needlessly complex.

Rather than just delivering on its clean setup, it becomes fixated on teasing future installments, a symptom of the obsession with sequelization that's affecting even small genre films." Katie Walsh of Tribune News says, "Like its big baddies, the bruising onslaught is lacking one major element: a brain." And Richard Whittaker of Austin Chronicle says, "Luckily, unlike most directors who try to ape the '80s through neon pastel color palettes, Wingard goes for the old-school gonzo action jugular, revving everything up with Matthew Pustey's martial metal score." It has a Rotten Tomato score of 57%, an audience score of 62%, an IMDb score of 6.2 out of 10, and a Metacritic score of 57.

But here at "The Broken VCR," we have a six-tier rating system.

There was a review of Season 2 on IndieWire about... about some of the possibilities that the show could go in and what might make it interesting when you compare it to the office.

The article is largely kind of gave the show a C because they did drop the whole season at once.

So I think the writer,

Early reviews have also treated it as more than a simple parody.

IndieWire praised it as a major midnight movie, while Variety described its connection to familiar children's TV.

That doesn't guarantee everyone will love it, but it suggests the movie has more going on than its wild premise.

Let's talk about the cast.

it's got a different reputation

yeah it's it's considered this weird almost prophetic And I was reading this very long article in IndieWire, which was an oral history of the movie.

And what seems to have made it hold up was that when we were writing it, I was very aware of what was happening in technology.

that this was a moment where we were about to combine our phone, computer, music, video games, television, movies, and it hadn't happened yet.
