Indibilis

At this time, Scipio Africanus fell ill, and news quickly spread that he was actually dead.

One Celtic Iberian chief, Indibilis of the Illigites, whom I have mentioned in previous episodes, fell into the same duplicitous actions as his other Celtic cousins and called for open rebellion against the Romans.

At the same time, Scipio Africanus had to deal with the mutinies of troops who had been in Iberia for almost ten years.

The Roman general decided to have the mutinous commanders executed, and any lower-ranked men paid the back pay that was owed to them under a renewed oath of allegiance.
