Index of Economic Freedom

So I want to talk about those three things one at a time.

And keep in mind that we just had a complete blow up with Canada, probably our biggest trading partner of all time a country that is very similar to the United States, a country that ranks a little bit ahead of the United States when it comes to freedom on the Index of Economic Freedom.

Oh, really?

Yeah.

It's just that if you look at these indicators in isolation, say not knowing anything about the growth figures, you would not predict 18 years of economic stagnation on that basis.

You would still think, so for example, on the Fraser Institute's Economic Freedom Index, Britain is still the 13th freest economy in the world.

That's not terrible.

That's not, say, where we would like to be.

Where has socialism ever worked? Give me one example.

You know, my Index of Economic Freedom, there are about 30 countries that are basically free countries.

There are about 30 countries that are basically socialist or communist.

So, you know, if you think socialism is a good idea, give me an example of where socialism...

But I'll get to that.

But my point is we're not socialist yet, and the way I objectively determine this is this Index of Economic Freedom.

They have an objective measures of freedom that include-

Right.

I don't think there's any other freedom.

But you, you make a good point that the Index of Economic Freedom is all focused on economic freedom, and there are other types of freedom that the index doesn't really measure.

However, I would say the Index of Economic Freedom goes right down the line consistent with all other forms of freedom.

So wh- when you look at these various different metrics on what Sweden is doing right now, it does seem a lot more right wing than the US.

Even, even the ec- Economic Freedom Index scores Sweden higher than the US.

So it's kind of this outdated idea that, yes, Sweden was very welcoming to foreigners, very welcoming to migrants, uh, about, especially about 10 years ago.

But there's been a, a really large shift against it, and because of our very flexible constitution or lack thereof, we can implement changes very quickly.

And we can see it.

I read every year the Index of Economic Freedom from the Heritage Foundation.

It's a rating.

You can see how economically free are several countries in the world and the countries that embrace capitalism like Singapore or Switzerland.
