Independence Bridge

You know, it's interesting.

A week or so ago, Bruce Partners said, hey, we want to put new traffic signals near Independence Bridge, timing devices as well, to increase the flow of traffic.

And You know, I think that they pitched it as it's this altruistic, you know, thing that we're doing for Bay City.

And the County Road Commission, you know, was part of it, too, because I think they owned three of those roads.

Truckers don't care about the tolls, really.

What they care about is on-time delivery.

So if they can improve traffic flow in Independence Bridge and divert truck traffic there, they increase the volume and they increase the amount of money they're able to make on that.

I think that's really what was going on.

And then they didn't deliver everything they said they were going to deliver.

They were going to build a new independence bridge.

So I don't know where it's going to head.

We're trying to set up a couple of meetings with some city folks and talk more about it.

The Vets Bridge is taking the load.

How long before they have to make repairs to the Vets Bridge once they reopen the Lafayette Bridge? Because those two are state bridges.

There were a lot of people who would have liked to have seen the state come along and take over the Independence Bridge by extending M15 across the river all the way out to 75.

Right now, it stops at Center Avenue.
