In the Year 2525

When I turned 17 in the summer of 1969, I was playing music again with Johnny Armstrong, and we both were really immersed in the songs that were hitting the airwaves.

Songs like Bad Moon Rising, The Boxer, Get Together, Time of the Season, Sweet Caroline, These Eyes, Spinning Wheel, and the terrifying In the Year 2525, and Crystal Blue Persuasion, which was a song Tommy James wrote about his conversion to Christianity, although we didn't know that at the time.

And those are just a few of what came to be classic rock.

I loved reading Rolling Stone magazine, and I anxiously awaited every issue.

certain that realistically this is a one hit wonder, but it is a very, very good one hit wonder.

You get him and his daughter cowering in this cabin while the song In the Year 2525 plays, and you get it intercut with static filling the screen and little snippets of emergency radio calls from police and fire and, and, and ambulances and things like that.

It's, it's one of the most, uh, sort of striking and chilling ends of a, of a TV episode I've, uh, I've ever seen.

I actually watched it about 2:00 in the morning, and I could not sleep.
