In the Mood

He wrote Slip on Jive and Glen Island Special.

And he arranged In the Mood, which is what got him into the Naris Hall of Fame.

Now, where I live in Westchester, New York, there's a park called Glen Island Park.

And that's where Glen Island Casino was, which back in that day really wasn't a casino.

And they have a history of the Glen Island Casino.

And they mention Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller.

But the two songs that they mention as the signature songs that kept the place packed was Glen Island Special, which my father wrote, and In the Mood, which my father arranged.

Right.

Probably one of the best-remembered tunes composed by the bandmaster Glenn Miller.

That was In The Mood, and it was played for us on the 97-key Voigt Oktoberfest organ from the Scarborough Fair Collection in Yorkshire.

So it's the Continental Carousel, Monday 28th of September.

Now, did you go to Holicum this weekend? If you missed it, I'm told it was a great event.
