In Rainbows

"Life: A User's Manual" nineteen seventy-eight, George Perec's most famous novel, tells as pieces of a puzzle a story about a jigsaw puzzle maker.

"Jigsaw Puzzle", sometimes spelled "Jig-Saw" with a hyphen, Puzzle, is a song by the rock and roll band The Rolling Stones, featured on their nineteen sixty-eight album Beggars Banquet.

"Jigsaw Falling Into Place" is a song by the alternative rock band Radiohead, released in two thousand seven as part of their album In Rainbows.

In the nineteen forty-one film Citizen Kane, Susan Alexander Kane is reduced to spending her days completing jigsaws after the failure of her operatic career.

"Rhett and Link Do a Rainy Day Jigsaw Puzzle" is a short video by self-described internetners, portmanteau of Internet and entertainers, Rhett and Link, which portrays the frustration of discovering a puzzle piece is missing.

We talked about this with In Rainbows, right? How it's like these great albums, it's like there's these two sections to these songs.

Yes.

The, it- it's some stunning stuff, and in a way, it's almost like this massive Easter egg at the end of a lot of these tracks.

You decided to highlight In Rainbows here.

So what do you particularly like about that album and what's kind of the attachment you have to it?

I think...

You know, they were, you know, since the Benz, I suppose, were hugely inspirational to us as a band.

But I distinctly remember listening to, in Rainbows, in an old house in Westmeath where we were recording a record called Blue Lights on the Runway in late 2000s.

There was a recreational room, I remember there was a pool table.

and table tennis table.

Ah, this is a classic.

Marquee Moon or In Rainbows.

Oh, in Rainbows.

I do love Marking Man.

But

our wedding song is in Rainbows.

Oh, okay.

Did you know that? Were you at their wedding?

There's no secrets this year.

But in terms of, like, production sound, it reminds me a lot in places of In Rainbows.

Really clean guitars, electronic kind of drum sounds, and quite crisp production.

I'm not comparing this to a perfect record at all, 'cause it is not.
