All these stupid inside jokes.

Anyway, so Soma is another name for the moon.

And you have to remember that, like, the Soma is both the name of the moon and allegedly what the moon contains.

But then right in that moment, you realize that to make those 50,000 people happy, you have to pretend you were exactly the same person you were five years ago.

You have to stand there and recreate this this inside joke that you made in some damp, obscure basement in Quebec.

And it's a joke you probably outgrew years ago.

Yeah.

They are paying for the weird guitar.

The avant-garde has been utterly commodified.

I think the most visceral way for you as the listener to understand the psychological shift is to think about the dynamics of an inside joke.

That's a great analogy for this.

Oh.

It's like the show's been going on for so long that we have all these inside jokes that we don't explain every time we say them.

That's a strong one.

That's one that I've tried fighting.

Um, whenever I would go to a sleepover, I, I was always the last one to fall asleep because I had FOMO.

I didn't want anybody having fun without me, and I didn't wanna, like, wake up the next day and being like, "What, what were you guys doing yesterday?" You know? And having, like, an inside joke without me knowing.

Yeah, I had real FOMO.

Inside jokeは、あの、内輪ネタっていうんですけど、FOMOはこういう自分がいなかった時に内輪ネタとかできたら、嫌だな、怖いなとかっていう感情をFOMOって言います。And, you know, this is a very, uh, real feeling because especially I feel like I developed this, um, in elementary school because I skipped school for one week because I had the flu And then all my best friends had, like, inside jokes amongst themselves, and I couldn't really, like, communicate with them for, like, two weeks because whenever I would be like, "Hey, what are you guys laughing about?" They'd be like, "You wouldn't understand because you weren't there," which is very mean.

Shame on you.

[laughs] Yeah, you can always fill me in, but yeah, you know how mean kids, uh, kids could be mean.
