In-flight entertainment

Um, those are kind of two key technological pillars, I guess.

Um, but the intention behind all of that was to leverage the technology to, just as you said, evolve away from it being just a kind of media player, which is traditionally how most people look at IFE.

Um, and, uh, not dismissing that 'cause that's still a critical part of what we offer our customers, is a great entertainment experience.

But kind of-

Yeah, 'cause we're, we're rolling out seatback and, and Starlink at a really fast rate.

Mm.

We actually have around 910 aircraft with, um, seatback IFE already deployed.

Um, that's out of a total of just over 1,100 mainline aircraft.

The last one is a booking request.

He wants to know who we'd pitch if we wanted to get an actual IFE catalog maintainer on the show.

So he's asking us to do his outreach for him.

he's asking us to identify targets.

expects.

It does.

8 in 10 passengers use the IFE system, and the big four US carriers alone are carrying something like 525,000 seatback screens between them.

Delta by itself has 165,000 screens across 840 jets.

But Really great storage in the seat.

Screen is amazing, but the downside is the IFE kind of stinks.

They got the Avengers movies and they got a couple of those, but they don't have any really new movies.

The IFE on carriers like Emirates, even Delta and American are going to be a hundred times better than what you get on JAL.

If you like obscure Japanese movies and maybe somebody does, or you like anime or whatever, then great.

Maybe you can get a lot out of these.

in all the other suites, which are fine in the other suites because you're pretty close to the screen.

But in that one, you're kind of far from it.

We're looking at pretty clear skies.

IFE is down right now.

We have great complimentary Wi-Fi you can connect to with, uh, the Delta app, and we will be coming around with, uh, drinks and food service shortly once we get to our cruising altitude.

Again, IFE is down, but, uh, Wi-Fi is working." And we're all sitting around and looking at each other, thinking, "I- IFE is not something...

[gasps] In-flight entertainment." We all, we all put, we're all looking.

We're all poking our screens at the same time.

And they're wondering-

My title was Ground Operations Coordinator, which meant I met the planes at whatever hour they landed and made sure the branding was right for the next morning's flight.

Safety cards, seatback literature, headrest covers, the little logo on the welcome screen if the IFE had one.

I had boxes of this stuff for a dozen different airlines.

Same plane, same crew, different stickers.
