Because I know I'm just digressing a little bit, but I remember this one passage which talked about when 100 knights of Arnor came under Prince Imrahil to defend Minas Tirith.

Their power and prowess was described.

It felt like, yeah, they're not sending like a hundred guys.

It's actually like, I don't quote this from the Lord of the Rings.

It's just more of actually recounting a memory.

When the Siege of Gondor is about to start in the books, and Prince Imrahil arrives with, I think, a hundred knights of Arnor to reinforce the defenses of Gondor.

The way Tolkien made it sound Now, I can't remember that exact paragraph, but the way he described it, that feeling still is with me.

Faramir retreated first to the Causeway Forts, just outside Osgiliath, and then he was forced to lead a headlong retreat of about twelve miles back to Minas Tirith, that's nearly twenty kilometres.

They were overtaken by Haradrim cavalry, and would probably have all fallen but for Prince Imrahil leading a cavalry charge out of Minas Tirith.

Still, Faramir was struck down by a poison dart and the Black Breath, and would play no further part in the war.

It would be easy to see that initial flurry of battle as just an ill-judged move by Denethor made out of spite, which it was, but it actually had quite important knock-on effects.

First, seeing Faramir at death's door took all of the fight out of Denethor.

allowing Gandalf, Imrahil, Aragorn and others to step into the breach.

The siege of Minas Tirith might have turned out different, had Denethor been giving the orders rather than focusing on funeral pyres.

And although Faramir's sortie was far from a success, it did manage to slow down the enemy advance by a bit, a few hours or perhaps even a day compared to there being no opposition.

But I would have liked more.

I think if I could make one change to any of the Lord of the Rings movies, I would have liked to see Prince Imrahil as a character.

He is the most powerful vassal lord of Gondor.

And I would have liked them to explain that Gondor isn't just this city in Osgiliath.

And again, I hate to be the in-the-books person, but in the books, the morning after the battle, they raise Prince Imrahil's standard above the city instead of the steward's standard.

And people are like, wait, we saw the king's standard return to the battle.

There's Banish from Edoras, four and a white for sorcery, exile target creature, cost two less to cast if it targets a tapped creature.

There's the blue-white uncommon Prince Imrahil Affair that poops out one ones when you draw your second card.

There's a favorite of mine, but not particularly good, Butterbur Bree Innkeeper, two green-white for a 3-3 at the beginning of Grand Step.

You have high value targets like Prince Imrahil in blue white.

It's a reactive spell.

And he also made sure that the route from Mordor to Minas Tirith wouldn't be without any opposition, sending a small force out under Faramir to do what it could.

And what of Cair Andros, said the prince, that's Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth.

That too must be held if Osgiliath is defended.

Let us not forget the danger on our left.

I can learn a lot from him.

The words that he used to describe what I think of as pillar one, he used the words, what is your commander asking you to do? Prince Imrahil is asking you to draw two cards.
