Impossible Princess

so this week actually this day in music history uh some kind of bliss the lead single from impossible princess by kylie minogue was released it was released today in 1997 what is that 29 years ago Yeah, it's 2026.

I know where I am.

A couple questions.

I look back at this Ray of Light era fondly and I remember during this period from around 97 to 99, indie and pop music was in a really good place.

Ray of Light sits alongside records such as Kylie's Impossible Princess, Version 2.0 by Garbage, Neapolis by Simple Minds, The Velvet Rope by Janet Jackson and from the Choir Girl Hotel, by Tori Amos.

All of these records share something in common.

They share forward thinking production and experimentation and electronica is a common theme that runs throughout all of them.

I think in many places it's quite beautiful, but it is not necessarily what we expect from her.

And I got to thinking sort of about Kylie Minogue, Impossible Princess, and pop albums where a diva takes a turn and asks her audience to come along, and the surprise release, I think, plays into that as well.

This feels to me like a project that is for the hardcore fans.

It is for her specific audience.
