And when, uh, Imperator Furiosa, played by Charlize Theron, goes rogue on a mission, uh, she's tasked with driving this, uh, massive war rig, uh, to Gastown to get gas and, um, Bullet Farm to get bullets, uh, on behalf of Immortan Joe.

Uh, But she takes a detour for her own little mission.

And then Immortan Joe sends the whole army after her and becomes this giant chase.

Cheeto the Fragile.

The Organic Mechanic.

Imperator Furiosa.

The Doof Warrior.

But it's got your Nux and Furiosa together again and Ralph Fiennes.

and you got christopher lee in there as well as scaramanga uh one of the best spawn villains so those two in particular are very good watches for sure so it is my pick then for post-apocalyptic films too yes that is a mouthful and i didn't fluff up um uh i didn't i mean with my choice then i went with furiosa a mad max saga from 2023 i want to

say 24 yeah yeah

mainly because i picked mad max fury road for the previous episode that we did on post-apocalyptic films so i thought it's only natural to do this one um so yeah that's why i chose it and obviously when tommy picked children of men i was like ah

A very different feel, which kind of surprised me a bit, to Mamak's Fury Road.

So this is kind of a prequel to that film.

furiosa's rise to the character we know and love from mad max fury road yeah and it's and it's done in this sort of tarantino way of having chapters to sort of structure the film not it's not non-linear or anything but it's it's a really interesting way to sort of structure the film and pace it out in an interesting way in terms of plot and things because obviously the plot of mad max fury road is they turn left yeah

they go from point a to point b back to point a this one's uh way more plotty and i do appreciate uh i watched this over two nights not not for any bad reason but i think i started this at like 10 o'clock i was like all right i'll watch chapter i'll watch chapter one and then i'll finish the rest in the morning

That's much more useful than simply making someone unbeatable.

Think about Furiosa in Mad Max, Fury Road.

Her competence is undeniable.

But the reason she works isn't simply that she's an excellent driver and fighter.

and following characters who are marginalized and genetically altered, whether that was because of Fallout or because of experimentation.

But the relationship and the journey of Tom and Jack the Giant Slayer mirrors very closely the relationship between max and furiosa where max is essentially calm because he's a sort of unwitting or maybe unwilling um partner on this journey he's put there because of circumstance not by choice uh he also sort of lacks agency through a lot of the movie uh max is is chained to the front of a car for the first you know 20 plus minutes of the movie and he is just sort of he just goes along for the ride same as Tom Tom's just following Jack Jack has an axe to grind Jack is out for revenge Jack has a mission that he's trying to accomplish same as Furiosa she wants revenge on Immortan Joe for the fact that he's basically ruined all of these people's lives So as I'm watching this, I'm literally just like this.

I'm watching Furiosa and Max, you know, Max is just sort of like in it for the ride.

And it just really fit.

And the more I think about it, the more I think it fits.
