But they're all kind of, like, trying to make sense of a path that has these exaggerated heroic figures, right? And the image that I love of this is one of the opening shots from Fury Road is of the back of Immortan Joe.

And you see it's diseased and everything.

But he puts this armor on of all these medals of wars that were fought decades previous.

That no one has any social context.

No one alive has any understanding of any of these wars that Immortan Joe fought.

But he still goes up there every single day wearing these medals because he was the great hero of these wars that destroyed all of civilization.

And she's captured and brought to the vault.

Like, his hand is out, and he's like, "Witness me," right? And, you know, that, that one turning around Immortan Joe's thing, that was about making Joe the center of the world, right? And saying, "Witness me," to Angharad instead, where he is being redeemed by her love, which he is worthy of when he sacrifices himself for her rather than Joe.

He was always gonna sacrifice himself.
