Immingham

Some companies are finding it tough at the moment.

A successful transport company with an operating centre in Immingham collapsed after 80% of its business collapsed.

in a single hit disappeared when a customer chose sea freight services over road haulage.

Now, that company in particular was Chambers and Cook Eastern.

We talk about Southampton.

We talk about Immingham.

We talk about other ports.

We forget about Avonmouth.

And they were brilliant.

I take my paintwork to a place called Spray Bay in Immingham and they do all their own stickers for the Yamaha bit and the stripes.

But what they do is, basically, it's a much better job than Yamaha would have done in 1981.

Why Immingham? That's a long way off.

Because they're really good lads and they know exactly what they're doing.

So that link still has to be completed and the bridge has to be put in at some stage.

And also up in the north of the area, we've got some issues in the Immingham docks area where there's a bit of an issue about roadside walking.

And particularly alongside a busy road that's full of container trucks going to Immingham, which is not ideal, really.

So that's still being looked at as well.

But otherwise, yeah, officially they're open.

Associated British Ports operates 19 ports across England, Scotland and Wales, and handles about a quarter of UK seaborne trade.

Its network includes Immingham, the UK's largest port by volume, and Southampton, a major container, automotive and cruise gateway.

DP World operates Southampton's container terminals, which handled more than 2 million TEUs last year.

The transaction remains subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the first half of 2027.
