This again reinforces the idea that Plant was nurturing the embrace of the hippie dream, which had offered acceptance to those mainstream life ignored.

This overt study of outsiders on That's the Way, misfits on Gallows Pole, anti-heroes on Immigrant Song and mavericks on Hats Off to Roy Harper consciously adds to the character of the album.

In so doing, the darker sides of humanity get a fair examination on Led Zeppelin III.

Gallo's Pole, a traditional folk song covered by Cobain's favourite guitarist Led Belly in the 1930s, is rich with Gallo's humour.

Their music expressed a solitary hunger for experiences that sated their baser needs.

Then on three, Plant expressed a sincere care for the well-being of other people.

It starts awkwardly on Immigrant Song.

Rebuild all your ruins, for peace and trust can win the day, despite all your losing.

It's up there with their best work.

Immigrant Song is maybe their best opener, which is saying something because they do really come out of the gate very strong on most of their albums.

I also love Celebration Day and Since I've Been Loving You, but they lose me a bit from Gallows Pole onward.

That long run of acoustic tracks are all kind of bunched together on the album.

It's a bit of a left turn after the first two, but I love that folky acoustic feel to the album.

You've got some moody sort of tracks like Friends and then the warmest astral tracks like Gello's Pole and Tangerine, which I really enjoy.

On the heavier side, of course, Immigrant Song comes out of the blocks and Celebration Day has that manic slide guitar, which is just great coming as a transition from Friends.

Since I've Been Loving You is a powerful blues-laden beast.

Oh, I know the immigrant song.

Does he mention

ships in that? Doesn't he mention ships?

I don't know what's going

to make them think of Immigrant Song on that, but it's a good song.

I mean, they are Vikings in that song, right?

No, I probably only know the the big hits.

Yeah, I wouldn't know a lot of the that's okay underground stuff I mean, I've always enjoyed, what is it, Immigrant Song and Stairway to Heaven.

Like the classics I kind of know as just broad culture and I enjoy them, but I've never really dug into them beyond.
