Yeah, it's Velikovsky.

Who?

Velikovsky.

Who's he?

He's the guy who, uh, in the 1940-50s just to- said everything that we used to believe is true, and everything we believe now is a lie.

But Dunbavin describes imaginary earth-shattering catastrophes, a comet strike triggering a catastrophic pole shift that threw the planet off its axis.

These theories are derived from those of other catastrophist pseudo-historians, like Immanuel Velikovsky, whose theories I discussed in my series The Chronological Revision Chronicles years back, and a contemporary of Velikovsky's A fellow pseudoscientist named Charles Hapgood likewise argued in favor of a catastrophic pole shift, though rather than the trigger being a comet strike, he came up with the idea that polar ice caps just got too heavy, causing, quote, crustal displacement, end quote, which is essentially the idea that the surface of the planet comes loose from its mantle and core and just slides around, causing havoc.

Hapgood's central evidence was the 1513 Ottoman world map known as the Piri Reis map, which features a then-unknown landmass on the bottom that Hapgood claimed was Antarctica but not covered in ice, and he claimed this map was based on some ancient lost maps.

If you have Velikovsky and you have the Electric Universe, that all those theories support this original idea of the Earth being knocked off its tilt, right? So there are other people that are kind of validating the idea, which makes it very compelling as well.

The difficulty that like Hapgood had and Velikovsky had and Chan Thomas had and all those who had variations on this crustal displacement theory was that they were doing empirical observations.

They said, I've got a gut feel.

In fact, Newton, Sir Isaac Newton also had this feel when he looked at the Khufu Pyramid in particular.

I mean, those are miraculous events, that whatever, I mean, I know that Immanuel Velikovsky does a lot of interesting speculations on various things that were mentioned in antiquity, and then tried to relate it to certain events that may have, you know, because there were certain old star charts that didn't have the planet Venus.

and then all of a sudden the planet Venus is in, and was it something that was introduced to the solar system at a point which really would have caused cataclysmic plagues of the Bible, or maybe even the flood, all kinds of different things, who knows? Good question, Carrie.

Another idea from Immanuel Velikovsky about cataclysms says that be- there was a cataclysm in not very distant past, like during the ancient times actually according to him.

I don't think so, but maybe there was previously, but not in known times, let's say 2000 BC or something.

And according to him, before this cataclysm, the time was different.
