I'm just saying.

Yeah, no, it's a valid point.

And I'm not going to bury the lead any longer, considering that I got this DVD as part of the Boris Karloff collection, playing the sinister Dr. Meissen who attends Count von Bruno but who may have conflicted loyalties, is none other than horror icon Boris Karloff.

Karloff, whose real name was William Henry Pratt, was in many ways synonymous with horror during his lifetime thanks to his role as Frankenstein's monster in 1931's Frankenstein and his follow-up role as Imhotep in 1932's The Mummy.

But he'd actually been working for well over a decade when he got those roles and he appeared in dozens of silent films.

Indeed, the monster was his 82nd film role at the time.

This is the first Evil Dead movie ever that I have been rooting for the Deadites throughout.

To cap off what was a very miserable first and second watch for me, the quality of the CGI used in the back half of this movie is reminiscent of Imhotep from the original Mubby and honestly is diabolical for a franchise of this standing.

On the plus side, it did get a laugh from me, which is the only laugh this movie got because every other joke they attempted landed flat as a pancake.

it doesn't walk talk act or even look like an evil dead movie the attention to detail in character development that's required to carry the gore is completely missing it lacks story and plot devices opting to bring back the kandarian dagger which made very little sense and had even less explanation it was poorly planned poorly executed film and easily the absolute worst in the franchise It clinically executed my excitement for Evil Dead Wrath while simultaneously breaking Evil Dead's track record for not having a single bad installment.

She gets out of the house and this is where Will arrives and he looks like Imhotep on fire.

Hurt it.

it is weird.

Seeing Imhotep from The Mummy with hair just really was a bit of a fun thing for me.

I think I had more fun with this movie than you did.

This was the kind of movie that if we were watching it together...

Released in 2001, the movie reunites audiences with Rick O'Connell, played by Brendan Fraser, and Evelyn Carnahan, played by Rachel Weisz, now married and accompanied by their adventurous eight-year-old son, Alex, played by Freddie Both.

The plot revolves around the resurrection of the villainous Imhotep, played by Arnold Voslow, and the mythical Scorpion King, played by Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock, whose army could spell doom for the world if unleashed.

The film opens with a captivating prologue that sets the stage for the Scorpion King's backstory, drawing viewers into a world of ancient curses and epic battles.

The action quickly shifts to the O'Connell family, who are drawn into a race against time to prevent Imhotep from gaining control of the Scorpion King's army.

The narrative is packed with high-energy sequences, from the vaults of the British Museum to the golden pyramids and dense jungles creating a visually stunning experience.

However, the film's relentless pace and emphasis on spectacle come at a cost.

Is this why I love the Jews?

Yeah, they're just trying to keep Imhotep in his place.

Because we like Thompson submachine guns.

I love Imhotep.

Imhotep.

Yeah, the horses would be on the wrong side of the river when we all get to where I need to go.

It's bad.

Give me the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

And of course, give me The Mummy, because what's more classic horror than some ancient, extremely dead individual deciding that death is really more of a suggestion? Universal Pictures gave us the foundational The Mummy all the way back in 1932 with Boris Karloff playing Imhotep and helping establish one of cinema's great horror icons.

Since then, filmmakers have repeatedly dug up the concept, pun absolutely intended, and tried something new with it.

Sometimes horror, sometimes adventure, sometimes action-comedy, sometimes Tom Cruise running away from things.

Number one, complete and creative re-imagining.

Nobody can accuse Lee Cronin of lazily writing and remaking The Mummy.

This is not Imhotep 2.0. It's not Brendan Fraser without Brendan Fraser.

It's definitely not Tom Cruise Part 2.
