The Mother Road Festival this weekend is really busy in downtown Springfield.

I mentioned last week that I went out Friday to harness racing at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

It started at 11 o'clock.

I watched, Alice and I sat there and watched the first six races.

But harness racing today, no. They'll go tomorrow post-time at 11 o'clock at the Grandstand.

They will go tomorrow, Thursday, at 11 a.m. weather permitting, and they will have an update on track conditions later on this afternoon.

Springfield City Council last night during the Committee of the Whole meeting discussed a resolution to support a project to convert the rail corridor vacated by the Springfield Rail Improvement Project into a pedestrian greenway.

Developers hope to begin work on the Link project on the northernmost section of the railway connecting the outskirts of the Illinois State Fairgrounds with the Lincoln Park area.

A preliminary study for the project is expected later this year, and a previous timeline for the Link project indicated it could be completed by 2032.

It's the annual Springfield Mile, Saturday and Sunday.
