According to a report, speed cameras led to someone getting a ticket every 48 seconds in 2025.

The Illinois Policy Institute analysis found that Chicago brought in $64.2 million in speed camera revenue last year, 25.7% more than what was collected in 2024.

Chicago added 50 new speed cameras last year, and the numbers now show us that drivers are getting hit with a ticket every 48 seconds.

This according to the Illinois Policy Institute public engagement manager, Dylan Sharkey, speaking to the center square.
