Igor Matanović

We've been linked to yet another winger, Jérémy Katomo, but apparently he's high up on Sunderland's list, and given the amount of wingers Spurs have got, you probably feel it's unlikely Tottenham may look at another winger.

And also what I feel is quite unlikely as well, they've also potentially been linked to the highly rated Bundesliga striker by the name of Igor Matanović.

Although there are strong suggestions that he may well end up at Manchester United and Newcastle United are also looking at him.

But he's 6'4", he's made a really good start to the season in Germany, six goals, two assists in only six appearances.

But obviously, he's not running in that position and hasn't been a real striker for the national team since, God knows...

God knows since when, but we have Budimir, Musa, Matanovic, Ivanovic, and Bello finally getting his, well, deserved call-up.

Yeah, I think, I mean, obviously, the surprises, there weren't any surprises, but there's still a few areas where there's obviously questions.

So as we mentioned last time, goalkeeper, there is going to be a question over it.

I'll say 2-2.

Yeah, and yeah, you mentioned correctly Atabolu, but also Matanovic.

Let's not forget, he was a former Frankfurt player as well, who would probably feel as though he was never really given a fair shot at it at the SGE.

And has obviously gone on to do really well at Freiburg.

So we've seen a lot of players scoring against the former clubs.

And for me, I've definitely got Matanovic down to notch one.

Possibly even two against this relatively weak Frankfurt defence.

But with Frankfurt, they're one of the teams that I'm not quite sure on what to expect from them because they've not been bad by any means.

Freiburg have been brilliant, right? It's them and Borussia Dortmund currently top of the Bundesliga.

There is a lot of conversation about where Igor Matanović might go next.

Uh, there is a lot of talk about Tottenham Hotspur at the moment.

To take nothing away from the, the Freiburg's performance, which was excellent.

Igor Matanovic in particular played ever so well.

But, but it was just nowhere near good enough for a club of, of Gladbach's size and historical standing.

And their inability to compete in the small areas of the game, uh, it was a shambles.

But I urge anyone who's keen on spotting young talents who are gonna make a break on, you know, b- within the bigger clubs in the next year or two, to keep an, a close eye on the Bundesliga, and particularly Freiburg.

'Cause the guy that's stealing all the headlines right now is Igor Matanovic, their striker.

Um, he's already got three goals in the Bundesliga this season.

He also scored twice in this game against Borussia Monchengladbach.

It means that Freiburg have already played, uh, four competitive games, uh, which is obviously double the amount that, um, that Paderborn have.

Um, so yeah, all their attacking outlets, Matanovic, Suzuki, Bester, Šehan are all looking really, you know, really interesting and, um, um, looking really dangerous.

Uh, so I have them very much, um, comfortable winners, uh, for this one.

Uh, we'll have to see some, some more heroics from, from Noel in net and, and that back, that back line of Paderborn.

Uh, so yeah, I think it's worked out really well for Pa- for, uh, for Freiburg.

And obviously the, th- one of the best things for them is the improvement in form of some of the players that they, uh, they did have as well.

Obviously, Matanovic is the main one who's becoming a top Bundesliga striker in my eyes now.

Obviously finished the last season like a train and has already started this season in the same vein as well.

I think that Augsburg-Schalke game would have looked... a lot different, whereas Werder Bremen were just comprehensively beaten by Freiburg, and for most of the match, really didn't do anything to give you any confidence.

The attack going forward, incredibly weak, not threatening former goalkeeper Mio Backhausen at all, of course.

Werder Bremen made the big signing recently of bringing back Niklas Fulkrug, to the club for his third stint but to be honest there was nothing there going forward and defensively they looked incredibly weak and that might be helped by the fact that i think freiberg's attack is looking incredibly good for this season yes they've lost johan manzani but i think what's still there is good but i think verde bremen made them look even better than they are going to be over the course of the season of course great performances by the Freiburg attack particularly Yito Suzuki and Igor Matanovich I was shocked by how well Suzuki played in this game and I really shouldn't have been because I hope this doesn't come across as bragging, but I did also pick Kito Suzuki for my Fancy Buns League side, and he was absolutely amazing, getting a hat-trick in this match.

He had a decent start to life with Freiburg last year, having joined from Brondby, but I do think this year, especially with the loss of Manzambi, he might be expected to really step into, well, not that role, but step into a... changed Freiburg attack where he's going to have more of a focus placed on him and of course playing well alongside him Igor Matanovich who had a absolutely wonderful game he scored the other goal alongside Suzuki's hat trick and he did set up I think one of the goals for Suzuki with a fantastic no-look pass.

His goal as well, absolutely fantastic.

And, I mean, I don't want to say this now because I don't want to sound like I'm plating him on the market, nor do I want to lose him for the Bundesliga, but it does feel like Mitanovic is potentially the next big-money striker signing for someone.
