Ibrahim

In our previous class, our discussion was about amsal Al-Quran, the parables in the Quran.

And we have seen the parable that Allah, He struck in Surah Ibrahim about the good word, Al-Kalima Al-Tayyiba.

Al-Kalima Al-Tayyiba.

That it is a parable and resembles Ash-Shajara Al-Tayyiba, the good tree.

Some details have come with regards to that, and likewise the parable of the believer.

The parable of the believer and the nakhla, which had come in the hadith, uh, of Ibn Omar radiAllahu anhuma that we had read in our previous class.

So today we read, uh, that verse again, the verse in Surah Ibrahim, and some benefits from Ibn Qayim and likewise from Sheikh Abdul Rahman Ibn Nasir as-Saadi rahimahullahu ta'ala.

No p-- amount of peer pressure or test would uproot it.

So, um, the ayah that I recited from Surah Ibrahim, Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala says, [reading Quran] Have you con-- have you not considered that, that how we set forth a parable? [reading Quran] A good word is as a, a good tree.

[reading Quran] Its roots are firm.

[reading Quran] And its, um, branches are in the sky.

This way of producing evidence is the way of all the messengers.

Look at Surah Ibrahim, Ayat 9 and 10, and read what the disbelieving people, the people of Nuh alayhi salam, and Aad and Thamud, and those who came after them said, and see how the messengers replied by saying, أَفِي اللَّهِ شَكُّنْ فَاطِيرِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ يَدَعُوكُمْ لِيَغْفِرَ لَكُمْ مِنْ ذُنُوبِكُمْ Can there be any doubt about Allah, the originator of the heavens and the earth? He calls you so that He may forgive some of your sins.

They proved the veracity of their call by referring to the fact that Allah is the creator of the heavens and the earth.

So he's saying this is also one of the proofs and evidences the messengers themselves they brought to their people.

أَمَنَهُمْ مِنْ خُوْبٍ Give them safety and security so they're not afraid for their lives.

And the Quraysh were the descendants of Fahra bin Malik, who is from the descendants of Adnan, and who was from the descendants of Ismail ibn Ibrahim alayhi salam.

Ibrahim alayhi salam, his first wife was Sarah alayhi salam, and from her he had Ishaq alayhi salam, and from his second wife Hajar alayhi salam, he had Ismail alayhi salam.

He was second wife but first child, Ismail alayhi salam, and thereafter was second one was Ishaq alayhi salam.

And And subhanAllah we have Ismail a.s. and his mother Hajj a.s. as you know in the well-known story, they were left, they were abandoned in this bare valley without a single blade of grass.

Hajar a.s. and a baby Ismail a.s.

So long story short, they settled down there and Ismail a.s. married from the Jurhum tribe and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala put barakah in his progeny and that became the city of Makkah al-Mukarramah.

These blessings that Allah Ta'ala is reminding his great, great, great, great descendants are blessings that Ibrahim a.s. had specifically made dua for when establishing the city of Makkah.

He will run away.

He will leave you in the disbelief and in the hellfire that you have entered, and he will say that he's free from you as Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentions in Surah Ibrahim where he gives a speech saying that, "I didn't force anybody to, to commit any evil." So this is what the Shaytan does, and this is what the allies of the Shaytan would do, the people who call towards evil and away from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.

And this is an important point to understand for all adults and children, that you reflect upon the companions that you have.

As the messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam taught us, "That a person is upon the religion of their companion, their close companion." "Let a person look at the one that he's a close friend to." Who does he spend the time with most of his time? Who does he go to and leave when he's in these gatherings? The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam says, "Meaning reflect and look and analyze who these friends are." And this is a responsibility of each and every single person.

Mm.

[clears throat] So if you go to Surat Ibrahim, Alaihissalam, verse twenty-six and then twenty-seven.

Uh, masalu kalmatin khabisatin.

Uh, masalu kalmatin tayyibatun.

I don't want to be one of those who gets shoved aside, the angels pull us away from the Prophet's ﷺ hands.

Abdullah ibn Amr r.a, he says that the Prophet ﷺ once recited Surah Ibrahim.

In Surah Ibrahim, رَبِّ إِنَّهُنَّ أَضْلَلْنَ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ النَّاسِ فَمَا تَبِعَنِي فَإِنَّهُ مِنِّي وَمَنْ عَصَانِي فَإِنَّكَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ So that's in Surah Ibrahim.

My Lord, they have misled so many people.

But those who follow me Then they are from me.

So instead of asking for reward, you know what we should really be asking for is acceptance.

And shukr of allowing us to do it.

That really should, رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ They built the Kaaba, Ibrahim A.S. Then it's رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا O Allah, accept it, my Lord, our Lord, accept it from us.
