Finally, we can form and take a lead from the Australian regulators, the Therapeutics Goods Administration, which has made unapproved peptide products a compliance priority and is working with APRA and the national boards on the safety concerns arising from their use.

My guest today is Dr. Ian Musgrave, Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology at Adelaide University.

Ian is a molecular pharmacologist and toxicologist whose work spans neuropharmacology, natural product pharmacology and drug safety, including the forensic and safety implications of herbal medicines.

He's the Education Officer of the Toxicology Special Interest Group of the Australasian Society for Pharmacology and Toxicology and a regular science writer for The Conversation.

We've discussed what peptides are, how they're used in medicine, and some of the evidence and regulatory concerns around unapproved peptides in Australia.
