Ian Carrick

And circle singing being this lineage from Bobby McFerrin and more improv based.

And I, I was really inspired to see what it could summon of, of group energy and, um, When I went back to Central Oregon after that program, I started bringing little circle singing events and my friend Ian Carrick, who had already been quite woven into this emerging community singing movement, basically pointed me to all these wonderful folks doing song in this way that is more oral tradition.

And when I found myself finally at a gathering at Esalen, led by Elisa Littlebird, I think it was 2018 or 2019, I literally met all these people that I'm still in relationship with that are either elders, pioneers, or colleagues in this song leading world.

And that was like Lawrence Cole, Maggie Wheeler, Melanie Damore, Lydia Violet, Lindsey Scott, T Martin.

You know, as somebody who's, we met in 2020.

We did a little bit on Zoom together.

And then I've just sort of been watching you from occasional Facebook things or hearing stories from friends of, from mutual friends, but we haven't really been much in contact.

But just from that kind of observing and following your songs, hearing some songs coming through, It has been so beautiful to watch your stepping into who you are, your discovery, and your willingness to share that as it's been uncovered, as you've found yourself in those ways.
