I Will Be Here

Um, you know, his music, my, my d- my parents introduced me to his music, obviously, when I was younger.

They would, they always were playing it, right? They were pl- you know, songs like, um, I Will Be Here, songs like The Great Adventure, songs like, um, uh, the, uh, For the Sake of the Call, right? All of these songs that were just so formative, formative for me, and I d- I didn't really know why they had such, they held such a, a, a sacred place in my heart until a couple of months ago.

I go on this rabbit trail.

I get on Steven Curtis Chapman's Instagram, and I see he's doing these just, like, real stripped-down, just kind of him in front of the, his phone, and he's got his acoustic guitar.

But also just a, a, you know, music career and touring and all of those, I mean, extremely challenging for you to continue to flourish in your marriage, and that's why I'm so captivated by this book that you guys have written together and what you guys are sharing.

Um, I mean, I'll never forget, Steven, hearing this song, obviously, uh, I Will Be Here, and that's just one of those songs that I keep going back to.

In fact, last night I got into bed, said, "You know who I'm interviewing tomorrow?" Talking to my wife, and I just started singing the song, and she goes, "Oh my gosh, are you serious? That's so cool."

Phil Nash was a perfect fit for him as a producer and just really got really great stuff out of him.

But I mean, how many people do we know that are our age that had I Will Be Here sung at their weddings? I know.

Are you kidding me? It's everybody.
